Programmer Now or Later?????????
Programmer Now or Later?????????
I am trying to decide whether to buy a gryphon cs programmer now or later.
My dilema is that I intend to add an exhaust system, cold air intake and electric fans to my 2006 4X4 SCAB in the future. I have added Toyo MT tires 285-75-17 already. What I am wondering is if I will gain anything by buying a programmer now with no custom tunes or if it would be better to buy it after I add the aftermarket parts and get custom tunes?
Any opinions on this would be appreciated.

Exhaust - no tuning correction required.
Intake - you can't safely run one without a custom tune anyway - and in any case, Washoobi's are a total waste of money - do the Gotts mod - and thus, no tuning correction will be required. A huge plus as well = money saved will pay for a major portion of the custom-tuned programmer (VMP Xcal3 w/ 3 custom tunes = $399, f'rinstance ... just as an example - and you'll get it almost immediately - also includes free tune adjustments within the first six months if you add any mods that require same ( e.g - aformentioned Washoobi if you just cannot stand DIY projects, and/or have a burning need to contribute to an aftermarket intake manufacturer's bottom line, for no performance return, lol) - stellar deal - the best one out thar IMHO)...
Tires - you can correct for tire size yerself on the handheld.
E-fans - no tuning adjustments required.
Result? Get the dang programmer NOW.
See siggie fer useful linkies ...
Good luck.

If you choose the right tuner shop, mods can be accomodated within a reasonable timeframe with no extra $$$ penalty. Not all of them are so accomodating. Choose wisely, or negotiate.

Do not put a CAI before you have a custom tune for it. Search Gotts Intake Mod. A lot of people on here will tell you that a Gotts mod is just as good as a CAI and significantly cheaper.
