'03 Lariat Tune

Hey guys,
I'm inquiring on behalf of my father-in-law about a chip for his '03 Lariat. It's the 5.4, screw, and he needs a direction to head in terms of how to start this process.
He's got a HUGE camper to pull and wants a little more "tow" out of the truck. He'd also like better mileage, but those two seem to be at odds in my mind.
Bear in mind that we live in western Canada, so we may not have access to some of the same products our US counterparts have.
Also, I realize there are 40 pages of threads on this topic, but in the 20 I sorted through, I wasn't finding a perfect match.
Thanks very much for any advice! Merry Christmas!

Take a look at these company's products (SCT XCAL3, Livewire, and Gryphon CS or CTS) with custom tunes.

Programming Devices>>Company Info Links
SCT>>www.vmptuning.com
SCT>>www.5startuning.com
Gryphon/SCT>>www.gopowerhungry.com
SCT>>www.troyerperformance.com

As you probably noticed your father should not expect any MPG gain (but be happy if he gets one).

Your father might also want to look into re-gearing if he has 3.31 or 3.55 gears. If he's running over-sized tires he might want to re-gear even if he has 3.73 gears.

Also note that a programmer (even with a custom tow tune) DOES not increase the truck's GVWR (brakes, suspension, transmission fluid cooling, etc.). It simply improves the engine's performance when towing.

Hmmmm, this is good info! Thanks guys! The old man wants the best of both worlds... great mileage and more hp. Sounds like he may start with a new intake and see where it takes him.
Much appreciated guys!

No new intake required......
Just do the Gotts mod for that year of truck....
The information on how to do the Gotts mod is in the how to section of this forum....
