Good question, HOWEVER the problems with the transmission shifting whilst on a tune were present before needing a jump

The battery died and the gryphon did not have the hex code for the truck when it died and was not on a tune when jumped.

Off subject, my motorcraft 650 cca group 65 battery lasted 5 years 6 months, it had '04 build date on the battery. I was in Ga during the first chill here in s-fla, about two weeks ago. The truck sat for a week and when i got back and started it, I could hear the battery working hard, three days later it was dead. Good luck Jon, but keep a booster near.

My motorcraft was rated at 550 cca and I have an fx4, bought it in California. The battery on mine worked hard for a few days and died. Wouldn't hold a charge and replaced it with a Costco interstate. Was looking for the kirklands which have 960cca and ranked #3 and voted a best buy in consumer reports, if you can find one, get it!!!

My 2005 is having a similar issue. I'm running the 87 tow canned tune, sometimes when I stomp on it from 4-3rd it jerks so hard its a wonder nothing breaks. I don’t see my drive train lasting too much longer like this. The other issue I have is while lugging along in 4th OD, it will sometimes skip, almost like a misfire when approaching a hill and on the edge of a converter unlock.

I'm running stock tires, 90K miles in Maine. Does this in all temps

88Racing was trying to find out if you jumped the truck while the Gryphon was connected to the OBDII port. That is a good way to do damage to the hardware in electronic equipment. A healthy battery "buffers" the voltage, a weak one can allow high surges.

But, I agree, with 88, this problem needs to be looked at by Bill at PHP. He can examine the tune files you have to see if there are any corrupted values that might be causing this.

However, I also think 35" tires with 3.73 gears are putting a strain on your transmission. I would not be doing WOT runs with that setup.
