Programmer or new gears?
Please don't blame the programmer - I think you were over stressing the transmission with the OEM gears and the big feet. (And, I suspect you were not "babying" it either.)
And, pintye30, I was not hearing YOU blaming the programmer! I heard YOU say - "Get regeared!"
I was just making a point for the less knowledgeable members who might be reading this.

Who wants a truck that you have to baby? I had 35's on my 97 without regearing for like 9 months no way did i go easy on my truck ever. The 04 up guys have alot more trans problems when they go up to 35's without regearing. I imagine it wouldn't last very long with 37's.. I think programmers are handly little performance tools but they in no way can make up for a big tire like a 35 or 37. Personally if i had a 04+ f150 and went up to 35's, the only thing to do to insure the truck will last and have the same performance or better that it had stock is to regear it.. Bigger tires raises your gear ratio. Only way to get it back is to put lower gears in.
The real question is - WHY are you lifting your truck and putting 37's on it? If it's strictly for appearance and you are going to drive it like an old lady, you will not have any problems. However- how many people do it only for that reason? If you are doing it to go offroad, you are gonna break something. If you are gonna beat on it, you are gonna break something. My sister had a ridiculous lift on a 3.slow automatic Ranger with huge tires - NO regear, NO tune, and had no mechanical issues whatsoever. It was a total dog that sucked gas like crazy and wouldn't get out of its own way, but she used it to commute for 3 years. It was a typical California street queen.
