tuner purchase

I have 1999 F250 with the 5.4l. I was looking at buying the Hypertech tuner for it as all I'm interested in is canned tunes. I know custom tunes are better but the ad for the Hypertech says 40hp and 61ft/lbs of torque. Is this for real and has anyone tried it yet? Thanks for your help.

You can cut those numbers in half and be close.

With that tuner, on that truck (5.4L 2V), you can cut those numbers by two-thirds and be even closer

2V's need to run 91+ (93 preferred ) tuning to see real gains. Even more so on a heavy F250. And the hypercrap is an unremarkable device, with unremarkable calibrations. A search will pull up several threads discussing just how unremarkable it is - and how lacking the support is.

OP - see my sig fer good programmers.

C'mon guys. Maybe with a tornado thrown in it will pull those advertised numbers, won't it?

You'd be better off with a SCT xcal3 with custom tunes.....

I had a hypertech on my green truck years ago, it was alright but a custom tune wins hands down and once the upgrades came it was useless so I sold it and moved on...
