SCT X3 Question

Hi, I am going to be purchasing a X3 in the next few days to complement my gears. What I am just wondering if i can adjust for my gears and tires even though I don't have a custom tune loaded on to the programmer.

Thanks in advance.

it might come either way but more than likely it'll be empty and your tuner will email you the tune to load into it from your computer, for that price I hope you got tune revision for life

KN - there's a lot of detail missing in this transaction ...

How are you going to provide the proper 7 digit calibration code for the PCM? You need the X3 to do that.

The 'catch code' (a.k.a 'box code') they are asking for is the 4-digit alphanumeric code on the PCM sticker.

May want to ask them - otherwise you may be paying for a fairly generic tune. (That bit of Maskirovka was tried by another tuner on her until we caught it, lol).

Speaking of which - how may tunes are included? And - which tunes did you pick?

I know you are trying to stay Canadian, but if tunes are extra on top of that price, you are better off ordering from one of the folks in my sig. They have proven track records on F150's. And the thing will likely be at least in the ballpark cost-wise e.g VMP & TP include 3 custom tunes of yer choice in the price).

I also did not see where thay are asking for any sort of detailed info as VMP does, for example:

http://www.vmptuning.com/store/index...d=226&parent=2

IMHO - I'd stay away from them, unless they were local and you could actually drive to the facility to get on their dyno.

Many Canadian customers use the folks listed in my sig. I've used 2, so far, eh?

You can get an SCT X3 with custom tunes from 5 Star Tuning for $406, his customer service is great.
Click on the X3 tab.

Hi Justin needs the PCM code (4-digit) at the minimum. Much Preferred is the HEX stategy code, though.

To facilitate this - you can have the blank tuner shipped ASAP to you - with it you can pull the HEX and email that code back. He will then email yer tunes and you simply load them yerself.

If you have a friend with an SCT or Edge/Gryphon product - it can be hooked up to yer truck to pull said strategy code without harm to either the device or yer truck.

Justin's customer service is superb. And turnaround is fantastic.

Additionally - he has a long history of very satisifed customers - F150customers - here.

I contacted the Canadian Dealer and the tuner comes empty and for the price 1 custom tune is included. So I will be going with VMP tuning for my needs.

I have one more question, My friend has a X3 for his mustang with his custom tunes on it would i be able to use it to get the hex code of the computer in my truck with out affecting his programmer.

Absolutely no risk involved. Just follow the instructions - Page 8:
