Urgent HELP PLEASE
Hey guys, i am concerned on this and need some help asap. Well went to the truck friday and the truck just clicked like the battery is dead, when it was clicking the Edge Evo was saying cannot communicate with the pcm press enter to continue, well i didnt want to press enter since the battery is dead.
So i jumped the truck off and the edge was still saying unable to communicate with pcm so i just unplugged the edge. Its still on level 2. I let the truck idel and shut it off. Went tonite to start it and there was no power at all. meaning no dome lite, power locks wouldnt even work. So i just jumped the truck off and its idleing right now.
Question is since the truck is not having any juice at all is there a chance the pcm will go back to stock?? I dont want this to happen cause the edge is still set on level 2. Next if i shut the truck off and hook the jumper cables to the other vehicle would i be able to set the truck to stock?? I just dont want the pcm to reset its self back to stock and the edge still be on level 2. Im going tomorrow to get a replacement battery.
LEt me know what to do

Hi KRC.
No - PCM will NOT go back to stock .
That code resides in the PCM's NVM. it's SAFE.
The only time it's at risk is during a flash - this is where reliable power is Crucial.
Go get a new battery.
Be happy

Follow the initialization sequence as stated in the Edge manual.

As MGD says - inadequate power. It's also a VERY good idea, especially with the older Edge units to disconnect them BEFORE any "jump starting", which can fry the circuitry in the cable.
Once you get your battery installed, turn the ignition key to ON and THEN plug the Edge back in.
When the Edge "sees" inadequate power, it will not reinitialize until it is disconnected and then plugged back in with the ignition ON.

Anyone who has a monochrome edge/ Gryphon or even the newer CS+CTS should put a sticker on their battery which says "Disconnect Programmer Before Jump Starting Or Disconnecting Battery!!!!"
thanks guys i unplugged the edge when i first tried to start it friday nite, so the edge wasnt plugged in when i jump started it these two times. Im going to leave it unplugged till i get the new battery put in.
I dont want to go threw the crap i did a few months ago with the edge.
