4.6 needs a few more ponies

ok heres my question and facts i have a f150 supercab 4x4 4.6L with 5 spd i want a lot more horses but dont wanna spend a fortune i pull trailer a lot i need to upgrade spring/air bag the truck it also seems to eat coil packs any help or thoughts? dont want to kill my mpg's too bad i get 20 mpg now...can i turbo/supercharge or chip which one makes the most since? my motor has about 80000 miles on it its a 2000 also does anyone have the air ride in a 1/2 ton?

You are going to kill the tranny towing heavy and/or increasing the power. The M5OD-R2 is a relatively light-duty tranny with a known weakness in the input shaft. That's why the max tow cert for it is somewhere between 2000# and 3500#.

what kind of trailier are you pulling? I pull a 19' 5th wheel with a 98 4.6 auto. reg. cab stepside and pulls just fine. 110 K miles no where neer 20 mpg tho.

Apples and oranges. The original poster has a manual transmission, which has marginal durability behind a stock 4.6 to begin with. The transmission is built by Mazda and was originally intended to be used with 4 and 6 cylinder trucks.
