SCT w/ VMP Shift Firmness Question

Hey guys,

I just installed the VMP custom 87 Performance tune on my 09 F150. I wanted to know if it was possible to adjust the shift firmness and how to do so?

Thanks!

Slim, forgive me, but I HAVE to ask -

You just paid big bucks for a CUSTOM tune from Justin and already you think there's a way to make it better than the one he sent? Why did you even bother going to VMP in the first place?

If you're not satisfied with the way your tune "feels", your first step is to discuss your hangup with Justin and see if you can't come to some reasonable conclusion. Has it occurred to you that the tune is the way it is for a good reason? If you don't like that reason, then, by all means, let "Bubba the Tuner" suggest a custom setting that is more to your liking.

Sorry, I see posts like yours all the time and it strikes me the same way each time. If you can't put your faith in an "expert", just go with some "opinion" on this forum. You'll get lots of opinions, and you know they're all like the opening in your southern hemisphere. Everyone has one, but....

- Jack

I have a custom tune from VMP, I also wanted more shift firmness so I emailed him and he told me how to add the shif firmness with the X3, he said there is no problem raising the shift firmness on my 06 most people don't want to much shift firmness like are selfs! You need to email him and ask him how to adjust on your 09. I have the 06 model so big diffrence lol, hope this helps.

Gotta agree with Jack...If not, I see another "the tuner wrecked my transmission thread".

I agree with Jack also...
But.....
Try driving it awhile and see if the truck adapts to its new strategy.
If not......
Contact Justin so He can make the adjustments.

Also curious of what exactly you want to change on your new tune? Is it to soft, to firm, or specific gear changes, etc?

Hi Slim - apart from the 'should you' aspects, IF end-user adjustments were enabled it would be visible in the 'Adjust User Options' section.

Refer to the manual: http://www.sctflash.com/PDF/X3_SF3Manual.pdf

You would need to perform a reflash of the selected tune, but this time change the shift firmness, then reflash to apply the tune with those changes embedded.

Again - this is only IF these end-user features have been enabled. If not, only Justin can alter them and email you a revised tune.

You can, as a check, simply hook up the programmer and see - just stop short of an actuall reflash and back out.
