Do they really work?

Being new to this forum, I have a lot of questions regarding power chips and how they can help improve towing capability of my 2003 f-150 (7700 version Lariat) I pull a fifth wheel (6,000 lbs) and its great of the flats but challenged on long hills. I have a K&N filter on it and thats all.

Hello & welcome!

First item for you would be to read the stickies at the top of this forum:

This one is good - https://www.f150online.com/forums/ch...unes-read.html

Second - do not expect miracles - a tow-specific tune will help, but to generate more grunt for yer MY truck will require premium fuel. You will get better tranny control and can help lower yer tranny temps due to less slippage.

You want a programmer, not a chip, for the most flexibility and features.

And - you'll want custom tuning, not canned for optimum results

Good tuning companies:

www.troyerperformance.com
www.vmptuning.com
www.gopowerhungry.com

Call/email them for additional info, pricing, specific needs, limitations, expectations, etc.

BTW - have you seen our Towing forum? https://www.f150online.com/forums/towing-hauling-72/

Great place for asking tow-specific questions, and as an excellent repository of info.

As stated before a programmer with custom tunes weather performance or towing will help your truck.
As far as increasing mpgs that's a 50/50 crap shoot.
