2005 F150 custom dyno tune

I have a 2005 4X4 f150 with the 5.4 and a 6 inch lift with 35's. I have a edge programmer, k&n intake, pacesetter headers and 4.56 gears. I just got my headers in and need to install them and plan on getting a custom dyno tune after i install them. I read up on a local shop in the area and it says i must have the actual chip in order to reprogram the truck after they dyno it. My question is, will i have to purchase the chip if i have an edge CTS programmer or can they write the new tune through the edge?? Thanks

If you have an Edge, you DO NOT want to add a "chip" (actually a different programmer). You can't stack programs on top of each other. Ask the dyno shop if they can write programs for the Edge. If not, Use what ever programmer they DO program and sell the Edge or, go elsewhere, like to PHP for a tune.

If you keep the CTS after getting tunes on another programmer, it will be just a very expensive set of gauges.

Since you already have the CTS contact php for some custom tunes.

As j+j pointed out if you go the route of getting it dyno tuned the CTS will become an expensive gauge.

Yea i understand what you are saying. I just called a local performance shop and they said they could write a program through the edge after they dyno it to see what needs to be done. They said they would do it for $300 but what is PHP?? If PHP will do the same thing and is a cheaper route id rather do that. Thanks

Yea i was looking at the site and tried to call and talk to someone there but it wont go through. Do i just tell them what all is on the truck and they will write a tune?? I think i have to send it in first to get it transferred for an edge CTS to a gryphon CTS to enable it the upload custom tunes. Thanks

There is no place to put a 'chip' on an 05 F150...There is also no way for them to load tunes to your current tuner, not sure what these guys are offering...

If you really want to have PHP write you tunes the find the order form on the website.
Fill it out and email it to them and or fax it.

If you want to talk to them keep on calling.
Next week is phone closure week then you'll have to wait until the following week.
Make sure you are using the new phone number.

Well PHP makes the edge to where you can put custom tunes on it. I just read a whole page about it on their site so it is possible. They can write custom tunes for an 05 f150 and put them on the edge after they have cleared it and put gryphon software on it. What would you suggest Mike?? Thanks

That's the original Gryphon which is a recased edge evolution.

The CTS doesn't need to be sent in tobe recased or programmed.

All Bill will do is write the tunes and put them on edges server which is called fusion and tag them for you.

As far as I know Bill is the only one that writes custom tunes for the edge products. He only does Ford applications.

FYI.
Bill used to be employed by edge.
Now he's subcontracted by edge for trouble shooting and developmental software for the devices.

Order form page link.
Look for CTS calibration in drop down menu in white box middle of the page.
