Edge Evo VS Cs/Cts

Alright guys can you tell me if there is any difference in the actual canned tunes from the old evo to the new cs? I am wanting to get the new Cs but if the tunes are going to be the same i dont see a point in spending extra coin on it. I thought since this is a new product they may have better canned tunes on it. Is there any new options that comes on the cs? I am wanting to get it custom tuned later down the road but not right away. I waited to long to get my EVO custom tuned so thinking about getting the new edge. Thanks

They are the same just new hardware. You should also look into the PHP gryphons. The canned PHP tunes are a little bit better than edge's and you have the option of ordering custom tunes.

Pre-04?

Unless you are willing to regularly (no pun intended) run 93+ octane fuel ( and ditch yer Sphincter and yer 1-chamber butt-plug of a muffler ), don't bother. There's not enough perf delta to justify it. Just can't wring much more out of a stock N/A 5.4 2V via tuning alone, even on premium gas.

Likewise, if yer shifting is acceptable to you as it is now...again, not enough improvements in shift schedules to warrant an upgrade to a custom-capable platform. There are many tweaks already posted on improving this with yer canned device. If you are happy with how yer 6,000+ lb brick is performing now, no compelling need exists to switch (other than helping the US economy).

IF you are planning on major internals or boost - you MUST upgrade ( but you already knew that ...)

If it's just for bling (fancy new display) - yer call ....

Save up fer gearing , IMHO ...

My Evo makes a world of difference in the shift firmness. I returned it back to stock the other day, thinking I was going to get it to PHP before the cutoff date, and couldn't stand how slow my truck felt, even on just the tranny tune. The shifts are much firmer and makes for a more enjoyable ride imo. I already switched it back to the tranny tune because it was a bore to drive stock lol.

be gentle with him mgd.... i havent seen your prose around here for a while so i think you missed the time about a month ago when king here was having issues with his evo. i believe it was the cable issue he was having and was ready to drive his truck into the grand canyon with his problems. i guess he's looking to get a new programmer with all new components and was asking if there are any differences in between the 3.

I was being gentle

But - I hear you, sir.

KRC - if you wanted to switch due to a concern with ongoing product reliability - certainly go for it. I'd feel the same way.

Please keep in mind that allegedly the datalogging functionality of the older EVO's appears to be AWOL in these newer models, as well as a couple other features. Hopefully all of this is just a software upgrade away ...

Papa .... my "prose" ...??? Got me good with that one!

Nothing is really different between then two as far as the canned tunes go.
The CS+CTS do have more bling but also use a different cable for the 97-03 f150 applications now.
