tuner question

hey guys. (i was told to put this here instead of the 97-03 section) I'm thinking about maybe getting a tuner.

first off has anybody ran into trouble once they put their tuner in? my truck runs flawless and i dont want to mess that up.
secondly, what are the best for the 97-03 model year engines? (i have the 4.6) what realistic gains can i see from them?

thanks!

Had mine tuner for ove 2 yrs now, no issues. Now if you go in there and start messing with the settings you could mess things up, but with a canned or custom tune you shold have no issues.

As far as best..well that comes down to preference/price.

I'd recommend going with either an Edge, Gryphon or Xcal programmers.
As for tuners I'd go with any of these, Troyer performance, VMP tuning or PHP.

had my xcal3 tuned by VMP for about a year now and love it. every truck i own from now on is goign to be tuned haha. i bought from VMP because they had the shortest wait period, and i really didnt need the guages either like the Gryphon has. all are great tuners from what i hear. i think you would be happy with any of them with custom tunes.

Go for it......You can always return to stock if you don't like it, and sell the tuner for close to what you payed for it!

But your going to like it.....so pull the trigger

you'll gain maybe 10 rwhp at the peak but your dirveability will improve with a custom tune, and if you haven't done so do the gotts intake mod
