Dealer flashed my Edge
Dealer flashed my Edge
Good evening everyone,
Need to vent, and get a little advice. I threw the P2106 code that everyone talks about and instead of dealing with the hassle of trying to figure out what sensor was actin up, I took it to the local dealership, and they fixed the problem, and flashed my PCM.
When they called to tell me what they had to do, I repeatedly told them to uninstall my Edge. They assured me they would. And that the techs knew how. I even told them I'd head over and do it.
So..... I get the truck back, and I noticed the speedo was off (4.56's and 35" tires), so I pull over real quick to reprogram (what I thought was reprogram) well they flashed the PCM with EDGE installed, and when I tried to reprogram, the edge gave me errors..... and....wait for it.... Truck won't start.
Called dealership, all techs gone for the day. (they must have bolted right when I left), but they did come tow me back.
So.... Do they need to just reflash PCM back to stock, or am I S.O.L. and my PCM is trashed.
Just needed to vent, and maybe ease my anger with someone telling me it's not a big deal. Other than having to drive the Focus they gave me.
Thanks in advance guys.
Oh ya, I already did a search, and didn't really find anything, so to all you who want to reply with a reference to the search feature can hold back.

they will re flash the pcm on the truck shouldnt be a real big deal, it happened to me last week, then after the truck is running you need to contact edge and tell them what happened and they will get you going to where you can use your programmer again.
What level were you in when you went to the dealer? You know that you're supposed to be in stock and remove the Edge when going to a dealer, right? A reflash when you have an Edge shouldn't have done anything unless you had say the tow tune or 93 perf tune loaded, then your truck's PCM is all confused right now. Good luck.
I was in Tow. And when you don't have a warranty, there is no need to take out your chip to take it to the dealer. It's like tellin a hooker you don't have herpes, there is no need. I went in with the Edge still programmed, because it helps the techs diagnose the problem. KingRanchCoy - Thanks for your post.... you took away my gut wrenching anger....

Good point Bluejay.... I definitely wish I would have done it different. And I'm not looking for should have would haves. It's a lesson learned for sure. I know some of the guys that work at this dealership, and thought they were smarter than that.
From what I'm gathering, I'm dealing with a reflash from the dealer to get me going, and a few phone calls with edge to get that thing back on track. One more reason for that Grypon upgrade I guess.

Bluejay - Lets take the Edge out of the equation for a minute, and just look at the trucks PCM. When I tried to adjust the tire size on the edge, it shut everything down. Truck wouldn't turn over....it even showed 00000000 for my mileage. My main concern was if a flash of the PCM from the dealer would straighten that out.
Were you trying to adjust the tire size with the Edge? If so, you can't take it out of the picture. It is part of the problem. The Edge is confused and it stopped in the middle of trying to change the PCM.

The dealer really fouled you up. You need to getthem to reflash the PCM, then you need to contact Edge and they need to reload all new programs. I think they charge $75 for that.

Once again - thanks
I think you will have some problems even after the dealer reflashes unless they can adjust for the 4.56 gears. Your tranny is going to be very confused until the PCM is told you have 4.56 gears and the 35" tires.
