Diablo Sport Tuner Review (Canned Tunes)

So I thought I'd write a review for the Diablo Sport tuner since I haven't seen too many around here. To start off there price is quite good (274$), which is preety cheap considering most are 350$+. The power difference was noticeable. Able to read TDC's and much more. Large easy to read screen, buttons are nice and big, easy to push. Directions are clear as day, very easy to follow. Bad things about it are: Hard to "modify" the canned tune or stock tune. I just really want firmer shifts, everytime I try to modify tune it wont let me go past a certain point. Lots of turning off and on.

Overall I rate it a 8/10, things they could improve on is a smaller unit and clearer directions to modify tunes.

Pros:
Holds 5 tunes
Diablo Canned tune is aggresive
Big easy to read display

Cons:
Hard to modify certain things.

Awesome feedback, thanks.

Where are you getting hung up?
If you select modify tune, then modify parameters, then agree to the disclaimer, you should be presented with a list of all of the adjustable parameters for your truck, like WOT Fuel, WOT Spark, Rev and Speed limits, Axle Ratio, Shift points, Shift firmness....

As for the key cycles, thats a Ford thing, cant flash with out them unfortunately.

Thats where I get hung up, it says I can't modify parameters with my vehical/transmission set-up?

Interesting.

Do me a favor, go to options/troubleshooting/show calid and tell me what it is, as well as the revision on the top line of the main menu.

Thanks

Sounds pretty good. I think the only problem you got here is the difficulty o tuning.. but then it's a nice review..

I have one for my 08 4.6L as well and I give it a thumbs up as well. I just stick with the 87 tune. I would like to try the higher octane tunes some day

I have one running on my 08 fx2 and I love it! I plan on getting it dyno tuned when I get my e fans and pullies installed. I also updated and have a canned tune for my CAI which made another BIG difference. To anyone who hasn't tried the 93 octane tunes, I highly recomend it. It just might blow your doors off

So does the Diablo have a 87 performance tune? Stock? I'm running an EDGE EVO in my 06 5.4 Lariat and love the 91 performance tune. But gas prices making that impossible to continue! Would like to get a 87 performance but that's custom requiring me to trade up to a Gryphon - and according to other posts on this forum - "bug hell out of em" to get it turned around in two months?

Thinking maybe the thing to do is sell the EDGE and go with a Diablo?

87 perf tunes and also 87 perf tunes with cold air intake options. I am running 87 k&n perf tune. Satisfied with purchase overall. Only negative I have found is no canned tow tune although they have told me on the forums on their website the perf tunes are safe to tow up to factory specs. Minor mpg improvement but it did recalibrate my speedometer so that was nice. Getting just over 15 mpg so not bad.

Sounds interesting. I do have a Volant CAI. I tow a small 6x10 enclosed trailer and towed it often with the EDGE 91 perf with no problem, so if the Diablo's 87 perf will pull that then it sounds more and more like the deal for me. Guess I'll take a look at their website next.
