edge evo screen blank

Has anyone experienced an edge evo screen going blank? It still lights up, but is completely blank. At first the screen looked fuzzy and scrambled, but now there is nothing at all. I know I will have to return my truck to stock tune if I have to return the evo to edge. That's kind of hard to do when you can't see what your doing..

DON"T TRY TO RETURN TO STOCK, until you check the battery. The Monitor requires a good battery, as does loading a tune. This is usually a first sign the battery is getting weak.

Agree. Mine did this when the battery started failing.

The battery has no problems with cranking the engine. I did check it a few weeks back, but maybe something has happened since. I'm pretty sure it showed 12.6v w/ the engine off and 14.4v while engine was running.

Not sure how you are checking the battery, the 14.4 sounds like what the altenator is putting out. It will start fine on a fairly weak battery. Starting is not a good indication. take it and have it load tested. In fact, were it mine and it was over 36 months, I would just get a new one, before it left me stranded. Just always remember, you have to have a fully functional battery to chabge a tune or it can quit in the process and you are up the creek.

Another indicator that the battery is getting weak is if at crank up, the trucks guages do weird things, such as all go to one direction.

And, the obvious thing to do if the battery checks out OK is to contact Edge Tech support.

You COULD have a bad OBDII connection that's causing this too, I think.

Had the fellas at Advanced test my battery. 12.6v, 648CCA. Cleaned the terminals and reinstalled my battery. Checked all connections everything tight. Still have the same problem. I have sent Edge an email since they are out on the weekends, but will call them tomorrow. Appreciate your input.

One other cause of this problem is a firmware update that didn't complete properly. If it wipes out the boot program, the unit can't initialize. The way you described it coming on, I dismissed that thought, but, if you HAVE tried an update recently, that could have caused the problem.

My cable was going bad (cracked on the side that goes into the edge) and caused all kinds of goofy things on the screen. Check the end of the cable for obvious damage.
Good Luck

The good folks at Edge updated the firmware and took care of the problem. It took several trips between my truck and my computer, but all is well now.

Interesting - A firmware problem. I really would not have thought this a likely possibility unless you had tried to update it and it failed.

So possibly, the firmware can be corrupted through other causes?

Anyway, I'm very pleased the people at Edge got you going again.
