edge evo and K/N cai

Hi, i recently installed a K&N cai and have a edge evo that i have been running in strictly tranny mode, i am pleased with the results of this set up. Now what kind of issues does anyone think i will run into if i switch to either level 2 or 3?? I have read where the evo is for strictly stock trucks but i know guys who are running cai"s and programers and have no issues (one guy runs a chevy, nobodys perfect!!) iI have been trolling these forums for awhile and have gotten alot of information from them. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for listening

The CAI is not as much of a problem on a 2008 truck as it was on the 04-05 models. Personally though, with a CAI, I'd have the Edge converted to a Gryphon and I'd have the levels you use custom tuned. (I think at the very least, you'll get a bit more out of your CAI that way).

You spent a lot of money on

1. The truck
2. The A/M intake
3. The Edge

Why not spend another $150 (or so - you need to confirm on PHP's website) and have a damn near bullet proof system (in addition to better performance)?

No time to cheap out now. Hell, buy cheap for a couple of weeks and you've paid for the conversion and custom tunes.

Just sayin'...(of course it's really easy for ME to spend YOUR money).

I traded my Edge for a Gryphon so I could run my CAI safely, and at the same time get more out of it. The piece of mind is worth the price of the upgrade. IMO.

You won't lose a thing by converting, in fact, you MAY be able to set a few other parameters, such as part throttle shift up/down and TC unlock/lock. You'll certainly get a better tune to run.

What's involved is that you program your truck to stock, and send your unit into PHP for the conversion (insured with package tracking). You can get the order from on PHP's website: www.phptune.com Bill will ship it back to you with the tunes installed. The only downside is that you are without the programmer for as long as it takes Bill to write your tunes (should be less than a month, currently). Costs for conversion and the tunes are on the website. You only need to order custom tunes that you plan to use - if you don't need three, don't get three. I have two, one for towing and one for when I'm not.

About the only exhaust mods that effect tunes are "X" or "H" pipe duals, or, long tube headers. Anything cat-back does not effect the tune.
