Programmer for no mods

Hello All,
I am new to programmers and therefore do not know anything about them. Part of my research is to pick your brains.

I have a 2010 F150 Lariat 5.4 4x4 Screw 6.5 bed (the longest heaviest one they make, yay).

Aside from probably getting an ACDelco air filter replacement I wont be doing any mods to the power train or exhaust.

Is there a basic programmer that you would recommend for me that would give me a little more HP in town and a little more MPG on the highway and get rid of the stupid transmission shifting program that they ship the truck with?

Thanks!

J

Actually I did read it, and that is why I said "programmer" not "tuner."

I was just hoping for recommendations for the 2010 F150 (most of the canned ones only went to 2009 (even though they are probably compatible) concerning improved mpg on the highway. All list higher torque and hp, but I failed to find any mpg comments.

Along with recommendations, I was hoping for a why you recommend this device.

Thanks!

SCT is about your best bet right now with custom tunes available from Troyer performance and VMP tuning.
Haven't heard much about the others.
Edge/gryphons aren't available YET for the 09-10 so that's a dead end.

Hello Mr. J sir!

Were you refering to the Sticky, or MGD's incoherent post - link kindly provided by Sir ShotGunz?

The Websites referenced indeed discuss MPG improvements - some even provide Economy Custom tuning - but at the end of the day, such gains are very much affected by a vast array of external factors - some you control, some you do not. Bottom line - do not rely on a tuner or programmer to guarantee a certain mpg improvement - you may well not meet yer expectations.

Perhaps search the many, many " WTF! Where da chit did me mileage go, mate ? " threads. You will get a sense for what I'm talking about - I hope!

If not - not yer fault - this place can be so drenched in data as to be hopelessly confusing

My personal advice? Custom SCT tuning - Bill, Justin or Mike. Contact each of them- you indicate you are on a research pilgrimage - so have at it!

Good luck sir!

You are quite welcome sir - I applaud your desire to commit to researching before purchase - a mindset not seen enough on here.

And it's those other gentlemen that rock; I merely plod along, trying to keep up with them.

Very best of luck with that beautiful, albeit gargantuan, truck!

Regards;
