Exclamation Comparison Data - Stock vs. VMP 93

So I got an updated tune from VMP today after throwing some DTC's with my current tune not liking my old AF1 (no insert), and after I got it, I shot over to SCT's website to see if they finally had Windows 7 64-Bit support yet (they do). So after downloading the new tune, I also got LiveLink for my laptop since I couldn't run it before. I had some extra time tonight so I figured I'd compare the stock vs. tuned numbers on the data logger. I wanted to check 0-60 and 35-55 numbers but also logged some other stuff that sounded interesting..

- I am in no way, shape or form, an experienced tuner, I have no idea what some of this crap means. I just did it for fun when I was bored.
- I calculated 0-60mph by using the timestamp that showed the first increase over 0.00 mph on the vehicle speed log until it hit over 60.00mph.
- I calculated 35-55mph by setting cruise at 35mph, then applied full throttle. I determined the timestamp by where the first increase of engine RPM was logged.
- My engine's warm up cycle was complete before both tests.
- I used the same stretch of road and same launching technique (slight break torque until 2000 rpm, released break, mashed throttle.
- I did two runs on each tune and kept the best of two.
- Each test I had my 3" AF1 and MagnaFlow 2.5" SISO installed.

LiveLink Results...
-STOCK -
0-60mph: 10.97 sec
35-55mph: 6.09 sec
Calculated Net Torque (MAX): 342.23 ft/lbs?
Engine RPM (MAX): 5037.79
EGO Temp (MAX): 1619.06 F?
Actual Air Flow (MAX): 30.28

-VMP 93 PERFORMANCE TUNE-
0-60mph: 8.44 sec
35-55mph: 4.16 sec
Calculated Net Torque (MAX): 426.33 ft/lbs?
Engine RPM (MAX): 5242.92
EGO Temp (MAX): 1583.01 F?
Actual Air Flow (MAX): 34.47

Noob Conclusion: Like I said, I don't know if the other readings are relevant, but I do know 11sec 0-60 is CRAP! I must have the worst stock tune on my truck because I even posted on here when I first got it thinking it was a dog compared to my 05' FX4 and 06' Lariat. If EGO Temp is what I think it is, then the tune actually lowered my exhaust temps at the 02 Sensor?

**I also just realized I'm just a third of a second faster then what my truck should do stock if I didn't have my BFG's lol

Nice improvement. It sounds like a fair comparison of the logs.
Yes, with more fuel added and timing corrected, you should see lower egt's.

Thanks for posting those numbers!
Looks like a good improvement.
Peace!

You gained 84 ft-lbs of torque with a programmer? Sounds ridiculously high from the dyno graphs I've seen

^^I wasn't the only one who found those numbers a little high? I don't know much about programmers so maybe I'm wrong but that seems like a heck of a gain.

I believe the dyno results are calculated at the rear wheels. Those numbers appear to be at the crank. If you do a simple ratio of stock crank to dyno numbers, I believe they are pretty accurate. I have only ran my truck on the 0-60 test one time and broke traction off the line but ran a 7.15, I think if I hook up I can get into the high 6's, still running stock tires though.

I never had it dyno'd, as I explained in the post, all those readings were from the SCT LiveLink PID Software. I didn't think you could get torque numbers from just hooking up to the ODB-II port, or am I wrong? Like I said I'm a noob

yes you can get accurate torque readings via obd11 port. your transmissionis equipped with a load sensor and delivers the readings to your pcm, from there the pcm can calculate various shift points and patterns to optimize acceleration and effiency.

Many of the transmission functions are based on torque output which is a calculated number based on load/rpm. You aren't making 400 lb/ft plus of torque, but you're exceeding the normal load ouput of the stock engine.
