The Edge canned tunes are good, I kept level 2 for the little towing I do, but Bill tweaked the canned tunes for the Gryphon a little. I understand they are good. But, I get better performance out of the 87 Perf custom tune than I did out of level 3 on 93 octane. Primarily the downshifting. Power is about the same.
So what custom tune do you personally suggest with a stock intake....considering I want the performance, but I also REALLY want some mpg back. My mods, although very mild (grille, 285/65 R18's, etc.) have knocked me down close to 13 mpg average.

To begin with choosing a custom tune. You need to look at what octane gas you use?
Then ask yourself do I tow?
If your strictly looking for the biggest performance gains then go with a 91-93 custom performance tune.
Or
If you like running 87-89 octane gas then go with that.

Not all trucks will give you the same mpg's on return if custom tunes are used. Some see 1-2mpg increases others have none.

I got very little improved mileage if any with the tune, but what I got was a truck that runs like a scalded ape on 87. So, I am saving the dollars of having to buy the premium for level 3.

I use 87 and tow 5 to 6 times per year....pulling a little pop-up camper that weighs approximately 2,000 lbs. That's about it really.

The responses I'm getting are discouraging...I really wanted to try to ensure at least a little gain in economy but sounds like that may or may NOT happen.

I'd like to try to talk to PHP staff directly in determining my choice. However, I read the post concerning personal issues the owners are having. Might be best to wait awhile.

Php's perf tunes limit out at 2500 lbs for towing. So then alls you'd need is a 87 oct performance tune.
Then if you ever wanted to pull anything bigger then the pop up you could always use the canned tow tune.
Hopefully sometime next week PHP will be back open but I don't want to speculate.
I don't know what its like to loose my father or a sister within 2 months of each other.
Just give them some time.

Will do. It's gotta be hard on them right now. I'm not in any rush, so I will probably just follow up with them in April sometime.
