Tune for 5.0L

I am new to the website and enjoying it quite a bit might I add! Anyway Im a member of another forum, Powerstroke Nation, but I am curious if I can get a tuner for my '96 5.0L because I'd like to get some better mileage and would like to get more performance. The way I've heard is you can get a programmer for it like a diesel for example and tune it and put it on the settings you'd like to have. Am I completely wrong and wishing for this or is there something out there like this that I am missing out on? Any help is great because I have a '96 F-150 5.0L 2wd K & N Intake, Flowmaster muffler, and only getting 14 mpg, I went with this pickup for mileage and am getting the mileage of the old diesel. Thanks, Lance

Yep - if it's OBDII then either TP, PHP, or VMP can custom tune it via an SCT handheld flash device. If for some reason it's an OBDI PCM, these same folks can supply a custom tuned chip that plugs into the J2 port.

Either way - yer in luck

Call them & discuss.

Here's an example of each method. I believe yer truck, being a '96, is gonna be OBDII PCM so handheld is fer you ...
