by the way, way to read the thread...

1) i am not the person asking for advice on the subject. i put in my experience of the fact that i bought one for my 89 firebird awhile back and it worked. so the "smartest guys with the best built trucks" werent giving me advise.
2)i didnt tell them they didnt know what they were talking about overall. just said that they have not actually done it so how would they know. if you are denying the fact that it works, to people that have used it for years. pretty sure they shouldnt be saying that it doesnt work. not clueless about the effects and warning of damage that "MAY" occur. but damage MAY occur at any time.even some "quality" parts are made with a defect and can do damage. heck a piece of a spark plug that breaks off into your engine without you knowing can cause damage.
3)i didnt say anyone was "full of it", you have it the backwards altho technically, nobody actually typed those particular words.
4) I NEVER said i knew more than they did. i just simply pointed out that i was frustrated that people on here are saying that these things wont work and will cause detonation or cause your PCM to mess up. even tho at least 4 cars have had this in them, and were borderline beat on, i know i beat on mine afterwards and i put 93 octane+at least 1 bottle of prestone octane booster, usually 2 bottles. and had no bad effect that can be connected to the resistor. and one guy even still has them in both his cars and the cars havent blown up or had PCM issues.
have a nice day!

A member that goes by the name of Penguin bought one of these resistor type products and her brother installed it. She was advised not to do it as I recall, but she wanted to see if it worked. Her brother assured her it did. Before it was over, she had to take her truck to the dealer to get it fixed and returned to original.

Many of us have seen these and similar type products that make outlandish claims do more harm than good. At best, they do nothing. Timmy, I know you think it did something for your Firebird, but I really doubt that. I would have to see dyno results before I could believe that.

When long time experince and advice is ignored or refuted, then it usually turns into a fun "bashing". Don't take it personal, it is just everyone popping off, having some fun at your expense. The only way you will ever win is to do a dyno run, then add the product and do another dyno run. Prove that it works, in other words.

yeah. honestly i wish i still had my firebird because now that i know where a dyno is, i could have went. also the resistor instructions said it could be installed either at the O2 sensor or the Air Intake Temp sensor. i did it in my AIT, maybe using the O2 is different results. either way, even if i still wanted to buy one for my 08 f150, i couldnt put it on the AIT sensor because all the sensors are within the MAS piece of the intake. my 04 still had the AIT sensor i think...not positive tho. but yeah i wish i did still have that car. maybe the guy with the grand am and mustang could do it with one of them. i specifically remember the one i bought saying +8hp cnat remember mpg gain it said tho. but it was like 1 or 2. the ones they do now are 1000000% bogus in their claims.
TO ALL...thank you for your helpful input. in my posts about saying most were smart remarks and pics, i was wrong, it was less than half. you guys just poking fun here and there, like saying to get an electric turbo with it and such. thats good clean, tasteful fun and i can appreciate that. but very few posts were leaning towards just being plain rude when all the OP was trying to do was to get info. and that is not cool.

This is a truck forum full of guys. There will always be some smart *** remarks.
It comes with the territory. Should have bought a Prius if you wanted civility.
If you use the search tool you will get the education you seek. These devices have been discussed many times.
My apologies if I came off rude as that was not my intent. All I wanted to point out is that the product is a scam and you may suffer potential damage. Use at your own risk. Simple as that. Some people actually appreciate this kind of advice because not all truck owners understand how they work. They just like to drive them.

Ok, Timmy, you're being a good sport and that is graetly appreciated. I was hoping this thread was dead, but I just received this product notice in an email. I had to share it. Now, this is not like those gimmicks that do nothing. This really works! Check it out!
