how to tell if superchips 1705 is locked

well my dad found his old superchips 1705 for a 7.3 PSD but is not sure if he set it back to stock, how can i check besides plugging it into another 99-03 PSD? the cable on it has a computer style 9 pin connector, but my computer does not...i could get an adapter if plugging it into my computer will do anything

Hi AZ.

That's not a serial port (they are just using the same style connector) - so plugging into a pc will do SFA.

If you connect to any OBDII port on any older Ford - NON-CAN bus - must be Ford & NON-CAN bus due to the specific OBD protocol in use - just to power it up, you should be able to tell - I think it will display something to that effect ... will not hurt anything to try.

only thing i have at the moment to plug it into is my 05 f150 and it turned on and said the model and what its for and asked if i wanted to tune or diagnose, i went to tune and it said connection error. my gf has a 02 f150 i could try on her truck when she gets home today if that is a non-can bus, but i dont know if it is

Yep - the O2 MY is non-CAN. You will avoid the connect error on that truck, and it will say as you stated above, if unlocked. Hopefully!

Good luck
