Any Way to Remove All Programming done to ECM?

I've got a 2005 F-150 that was previously tuned a year or so ago by a shop here locally that has since closed down. The tune on it has some issues and I've for the most part been able to drive around it. However, I just am tired of having to drive around it and want it fixed.

I talked to Bill @ PHP earlier this year and he claimed he could programatically get it to reset before programming it with the Gryphon. I paid for my tunes last April and waited until almost September and ran into some financial issues and couldnt' wait anymore and got the money back.

Does anyone know what the dealer charges for a reflash? Should I just let Bill do it when I'm ready in the next month to order the Gryphon again or what would work best?

Personally, I think it would cost you less if you let Bill do it, if you're going to order a Gryphon.

Don't you have a programmer? If so, just set it back to stock.

No I do not. Don't you think I would have thought of that if i did?

1. It was programmed by a shop via laptop. There is no programmer or handheld anything used on my truck. It was done via a cable from the laptop to the OBD2 port.

2. As I said, I sold my Gryphon and everything else with it when I ran into financial issues earlier this year. I didn't have the Gryphon hooked up and just was waiting on what Bill said he could do with it. I was never able to wait long enough due to other issues.

I was hoping not to have to make Bill work any harder than he already does and was hoping to figure out a way that I could just hook it up like everyone else and not worry about there having been a tune on there previously. Guess it sounds like I'll have to lean on him to do it.

Based on that, the only wat to get your truck back to stock is to have the PCM reflashed. I agree with Jack, on cost and getting tunes from a reputable tuner.

I would put my money into a tuner, but, yes, a dealer should be able to reflash it and they charge $75 to $100, usually.

No need to be a tool about it. I think you might be surprised that the lack of intelligence some times. What kind of software did the tuner use? I'm guessing Sniper. If not, that's very interesting that you didn't get a programmer. Irregardless the only option is to have the dealer reflash a stock tune or let Bill try to get it working.

No need to start the name calling either. I think you can figure out really quick the intelligence of some people in how they type, their grammar, and their punctuation just to name a few. I'm an admin on 5 different car forums and am very familiar with the lack of intelligence that most people tend to posess. I don't know how many times the most simple thing has been the answer for most people, but again I'm not the usual idiot that comes asking the stupidest questions with the simplest of answers.

I've built everything from 1500hp Supras to 1800hp Vipers and some of the fastest Porsche's on the planet so I'm not the average person when it comes to modifying cars in general. I am however, plenty new to the Ford side of things, hence my questions.

The software used was HP Tuners. It is used primarily on GM vehicles but the manufacturer branched out and is now able to program most Ford vehicles as well. I don't think they have quite caught up to the abilities of some tuners and programmers on this board, but I also didn't know if there were any tricks that Ford had.

Most manufacturers I've dealt with have a special sequence of events that you can do that can take an ECM back to stock. It's usually a very long and complicated series, but I guess Ford isn't one of those.

Thanks for the help. I'll either pay to have it reflashed or take Bill up on his offer to have the Gryphon do it when the time comes.

I had mine re-flashed last year before I bought an edge. I want to say it was about $120. This is the only thing it has gone to the dealer for.
