Used Edge problems!

I just purchased a used edge evo off of this site, and I installed it on my truck and it showed the level to be 2 right away. I'm assuming this means that the seller didn't return it to stock, even though he claimed that he did.

Need help?

I think you have to call edge so they can unlock it for you. It costs $$ tho I believe. I'm guessing 80-100 bucks from what I recall reading.

Yeah sounds like you got jerked around. Shame on the person that sold it to you. My advice is go ahead and send it in to be gryphonized. I think its $60.

When trying to change the level on the edge in my truck (ignoring the fact that it says level 2 instead of level 0 like it should) it gives me an error code saying that it isn't calibrated yet for my truck. From what i've read this needs to be updated to the newer firmware because my truck is an 07 with ffv motor. I'm trying to reprogram it but can't because the lightning software won't work with my vista computer, and it is very hard to find a computer with xp on it.

Any ideas?

If it helps, the edge version is E3.20.21

Which from my understanding has the old firmware.

I would say edge is your only option at this point. Jack and Jim will chime in either later tonite or tomorrow. My guess is that the hex code for your truck is not the same as the truck it came off of, therefore it is not working. SO it sounds like it needs to be unlocked. They might have an update for vista as many people have that now

Do NOT try changing any levels until it has been set back to stock. From what I have heard the Lightning software is no longer used. It is now called Fusion and I had no problem updating mine through vista with Fusion, but then again I just bought a new one 2 months ago. It was already set for the Fusion software.

Have you contacted or asked the seller if he returned it to stock?

try right clicking on the desktop icon for the lightning software, go to properties, click the compatibility tab, check the first box (compatibility mode). that might make the software work but theres been times that ive had to "install" the software using compatibility mode instead of "running" the software. im not sure exactly how you do that when installing from a cd but if you can download the lightning software installation file from edge, then you will be able to install it using compatibility mode.

lol i hope that makes sense.

from what ive heard; if it wasnt returned back to stock, then when you plug it into your truck it will say "vin locked" or something like that.

Marksde - These guys have been giving you correct advice. DO NOT try to program your truck with the Edge in it's current condition! It is essentially "locked" right now to another truck and it has that truck's stock tune stored. If you somehow managed to get the Edge to do anything to your PCM, it would almost surely put a tune in it that would make your truck run poorly, if at all.

You are going to have to get the device "unlocked" (returned to Level 0). Once that has been done, you should be OK. I vaguely recall the cost for doing this was about $75 a year ago. Call Edge Tech Support for this service - they CAN help you.

The reason the Edge seems to be "working" (sort of) in your truck right now is that it is just acting as a monitor, giving you extra gauge readouts.

There is no way, to my knowledge, for you to return the Edge to the Level 0 tune by yourself. Don't waste your time trying or asking about it. If yu can get the guy who sold it to you to do it, HE can, but Edge Corporation is your only other choice.
