few questions on chips and programers??

just got my truck lifted and now i want to get a chip or programmer.

if i get a chip will i need to program it or do i just plug it in and go?
are chips and programers basically the same thing?
also why are chips so much cheaper than programers?

any help would be appreciated
thanks

Most of your questions would be answered if you'd read the sticky at the top of the page. A chip is somewhat more limited than a programmer, so it will be cheaper.
