04-08 Edge on 09

What is the worst that could happen. I WILL NOT BE TUNING! I just want to see if the gauges work. I've got the new 4.6 3V but I would think it should be close, maybe somethings will work and others will not?

Highly unlikely that your Edge will contain the HEX code. If not, it will do nothing at all.

Bluejay's probably right about it likely doing nothing. However, if you plug it in as a monitor only, it cannot hurt anything.

A hex code is only required for tuning. I WILL NOT BE TUNING. When I first got my Edge for the 05 my hex wasn't supported but all of the monitors worked. I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance before I plug it in. Worst case I may blow a fuse or the monitor just won't work right?

I think it will work the same as when I plugged an 04 - 06 Edge into my 08. It worked great as a monitor on level 0. It would not recognize my truck and would not program to any of the three levels.

There is only 1 version of the Evolution for the 04-08 model....Anyways I just tried it out and it powers up but I've got no reading on any of the PID's so far. I tried RPM, Batt voltage, MPH, TFT. I wonder if this will lead to a new unit or if they will come out with an update/

I'm not convinced you're right about this (what I've "bolded"). But regardless, the PCM seems to be completely redesigned in the 09+ models. I think you're going to have to wait.

Came across this thread over on the PHP forums. It will just be a firmware update required for the older models.

At the moment, PHP's server appears to be down. A firmware update would allow the programmer to recognize the new PCM configuration. That's if the old Edge/Gryphon hardware can be made compatible.

I'll take your word for this used2vtec. I'm sure it's something I've seen on PHP's site but just forgot - probably because I don't have a 2009 truck (although I wish I did).

That is what I was told, and that is why I purchased the wrong one, and that is why I had to spend another $150 to get the board updated to work with my truck. Please be warned!

OK, now that the server is up again -

You MAY be reading too much into this used2vtec. Notice what he said in post #16. I'm not sure post #18 really means the 04-08 units will work with just a firmware update.

Throttle "lag"

Do any of the better tunes get rid of the annoying throttle lag that the newer F150's have?

My tunes certainly did on my 2005. Does my truck qualify as a "later model"?

Actaully, I think any of the custom tunes by reputable tuners will take care of this annoying problem (which, in my book, is also a safety hazard if I'm passing someone).
