I have an 2006 Navigator that just threw off a Check engine light. I have a cheap OBDII reader from harbor freight. When I try and read the codes the reader sits and waits for a minute or two and then displays 'Error'

Any thought??

Maybe the key has to be turned to on?

Either way, if it gives you more problems, I'd just get it read for free at Advanced/Autozone/Pep Boys, etc.

 

I have used the reader before on a Tahoe with no problems. I guess I was wanting to make sure that this was the right type of reader for this vehicle??
