Red face New guy needs guidance

hey guys. I have a 2001 F-150 super cab, with the off-road and sport package. So obviously it has a 1" lift with 17's, skid plates and the 5.4L v8. I'm new to the truck game but not to mechanics. I race motorcycles and this has been the hauler but now I want to mod it. First off make it sound good with performance and then looks, so the first thing I thought was exhaust, intake, and a tuner. What do the 'experts' recommend? I have no clue where to start. What do you guys recommend? the only thing is i'm not looking to drop 400$ on a tuner.

Trust me. It's better to spend the $400 now than later. Besides with something like a Xcal3, you can use it on another vehicle with new tunes if you decide to sell your truck. It's not like it's wasted. I'd recommend going with a SCT Xcal3 tuner from VMP Tuning. This is what I ordered.

Magnaflow makes some nice exhausts. I would check into that, possibly have an exhaust shop fab something up so you could pick your muffler, route, etc. S&B and AF1 seem to be the best cold air intakes around.

What kind of 450f do you have? I've been whipping my CRF450 since the 2009s came out.

the 450 comes soon. i still like 250f's more...Ive got a 06 CRF 250r right now.

pro circuit head, pro circuit valves, pro circuit springs, pro circuit cam, pro circuit piston, pro circuit crank, pro circuit Forks, pro circuit shock, ASV levers, pro taper pillowtop grips, renthal bars, dunlop 728's, renthal twin ring sprockets (13:48), acerbis plastics, pro circuit seat, pro circuit ignition mapping, pro circuit full titanium exhaust system (duals!), twin air intake system, braking brakes, all motion pro cables, renthal gold 528 chain, hinson clutch basket, hinson clutch hub, barnet clutch plates, all pivot works bearings, black engine plugs, custom carb work, o ring mod, hardline hour meter, temp stickers, powder coating rims, hubs and engine covers soon, And i shined the whole frame.

Now you see why im limited on money for a truck . With all the power this thing makes I dropped 3 teeth on the rear so it is torquey like a 450, plus you dont have to shift every second like a normal 250, just hit the corners low in 3rd and snap the throttle!

EDIT: haha, forgot about the truck. I decided to go with PHP tunes on a gryphon tuner, 3" dynomax bullet with 3" tubing, Some intake- haven't decided yet, and just a 3" body lift.
