30-35 rwhp 91/93 perf tune tune
Depends also on what other mods you have done.
87 oct perf tune is around 25 rwhp.

The custom tune will net you a few more HP, but it's not all about HP. For me, the greatest improvement was better shifting and especially downshifting. It will now kick down at almost any speed where Level 3 would not.

My 87 Performance tune provides close to the HP that Level 3 did and I get to pocket the difference in the cost of 87 compared to 93. Around here, that's 35 to 40 cents a gallon. The savings paid for 2 custom tunes in about 6 months.

No, if you want to run 87, get a custom tune for 87. You must run a minimum octane of what the tune calls for. You can run 91 on aan 87 tune and bump the timeing up, but for best results, run what the tune calls for. I have two custom tunes, an 87 Perf and a 93 Perf. I rarely run the 93 anymore, the 87 tune is great for daily driving and on the highway.

I fully agree, but don't short-sell the Edge here - it has custom settings for transmission shift points (down and up) and Overdrive engagement that no one ever seems to talk about or modify from my readings on here.

I have an Edge set on 91 performance - at first I ran this setting with no custom settings and it was a great improvement in power and shifting (speed and firmness), but I noticed the actual rpm/load shifting was the same and not always fully utilizing the new power.

So, I decided to use the custom settings to adjust the shift points. Here is how I set mine:

Upshift/Downshift (you adjust each separately, but set both)
1st gear +2 mph (max setting)
2nd gear +5 mph (max setting)
3rd gear +10 mph (max setting)
Overdrive engagement - left alone

(Note I also corrected the tire size and set WOT to 1.5, but left timing alone for some safety margin even though I am running 93 octane)

Changing the shift points transformed the drivability of my truck as these higher shift points keeps the engine closer to the peak torque band and minimizes any lugging or downshifting problems. I really notice the downshifting improvement too. The only time the engine now lugs around 1000-1200 rpm is when I am in top gear with light throttle, overdrive engaged, doing around 45-50 mph.

Also, while you might think this would cause a reduction in MPG, mine actually increased from the "normal" 91 performance tune as engines always get better fuel mileage when they are operated near the peak torque rpm as this is the most efficient power for the fuel point for any engine.

Now, I am sure the custom tunes can make this even better, but using what you have in a stock Edge is pretty darn good IMHO.

Don't disagree with anything you said. I was quite happy with the Edge, running Level 3 on 93 octane for 30,000 miles. I decided to give the custom tune a try and found out there is a difference. If one is comparing and buying, my advise is get the Gryphon and the ability to get custom tunes.

If he was running lean, it's possible his mileage decreased. He's just not damaging his engine, now.

Bluejay what do you think i should do?

I have a 06 4.6 2wd and i just put on 265-17-70 Nitto A/T

THE GAS WENT WAY DOWN.

i noticed getting my oil changed my air filter was all messed up. Everything is stock but my exhaust.

Dont have too much money after buying the tires.

What do you think... it doesnt seem real bc my friends have 5.6 bigger tires and get better gas.

Are the tires taller? If so, are you taking that in consideration in your calculations? That may be some of your problem, the math. But, there is no doubt, bigger and heavier tires and /or wheels will definitely eat gas. I lost about 1/2 mpg when I went to 265/70/17 from 245/65/17 and when I went to 305/50/20, I lost almost 1 1/2 mpg. just a fact of life.
