What year is your truck?
What is your engine size?
What level are you currently running?

By putting that bigger tire on your wheels, you've effectively reduced your gear ratio, making it harder for your truck to get from standstill up to cruising speed. You should be noticing less "takeoff" power from a stoplight.

Here's the difference: With the old tires, your unloaded diameter was 30.05 inches. The new tires have an unloaded diameter of 31.6 inches - about 1.5 inches bigger. This doesn't seem like much, but it translates to about 33 fewer wheel revolutions per mile. And, if you have 3.55 gears, that's like suddenly dropping in 3.37 gears with the old tires.

To get back the "pep" you had with the stock setup, you'd need to increase your gear ratio to 3.73.

Possibly, if you could get the truck up to cruising speed and just stay there for a full tank of gas, you'd see an increase in gas mileage. But, if you do a lot of stop and go driving, you'll probably see the MPG drop, because your engine cannot operate as efficiently.

Bigger tires DO look cool, but they aren't necessarily the best choice.

Sure - It doesn't seem to hurt anything and was a kind of "fun" project. I think it may have improved my gas mileage too, although I don't really see why that should have happened (unless the engine is operating more efficiently). I just know I seem to be getting about 0.5 mpg better now than before.

When Bill Cohron dyno tested a truck with the snorkel removed, he got about an 8 HP increase and a similar gain in torque. I certainly can't feel this kind of small increase, but my truck runs and sounds fine.

The custom tune will net you a few more HP, but it's not all about HP. For me, the greatest improvement was better shifting and especially downshifting. It will now kick down at almost any speed where Level 3 would not.
I agree, same here.
