Question about Gryphon PID Data!!

One of the Pids reads "GEAR TCL." I know this shows current gear and TCL stands for torque converter lock. I have seen a padlock show up on the screen just after takeoff in 1st. My question is, when cruising down the highway, shouldn't the padlock be there showing that the torque converter is locked in? I know its working properly, just wondering about the display. Thanks for the help guys!!

I've never seen my TC lock in 1st. I've seen it lock in 2nd, when the transmission is locked there and I'm pulling my trailer up a hill. I've seen it lock in 3rd and O/D too. In fact, my TC usually locks around 40-45 mph with the transmission in 4th. It will unlock if I step on the gas hard enough or release the gas (to coast), and that's what it's supposed to do.

If you don't see the padlock at cruise when not under any "load", I'd have to say something is not right.

You CAN adjust the TC unlock/lock speeds in the "Custom Options" menu. Reducing them (negative numbers) makes the TC lock and stay locked down at lower speeds.

I didn't realize that you can adjust the TC settings. So when cruising down the highway, your padlock is on Jack? I know that the TC is operating properly ( sounds corny) because I know the truck. I can tell when it locks and unlocks especially on the highway. I am not concerned about having a TC concern, I am just trying to figure out the padlock on the display.

I THINK you can make adjustments to the TC unlock/lock speeds on an Edge. I can on my Gryphon.

And yes, when my TC locks, (I can feel it too and see the RPM drop about 400 or so), the little padlock comes on. Mine is on unless I'm accelerating, climbing a hill that uses about the same amount of throttle as accelerating, or, as I said earlier, when my foot comes off the gas and I start coasting. So when "cruising down the highway", my padlock is ON. I don't know why yours would not be, with a locked TC.

Maybe Edge Tech Support would have some ideas.

(If you notice me suggesting that people call tech support, it's for two reasons: 1. They seem pretty good. 2. You paid for this service when you bought their product.)
