I recently purchased a used edge evolution programmer off Ebay and it wont turn on when i plug it into my truck..iv tried restoring it but i need the unlock key. anyone have an idea what the unlock key would be?

 

Does it get any power? If there is no power it could be that you fuse for the OBD port and the cigarette lighter is blown, that is a 20A fuse, check your manual for which fuse exactly. Or, it could be that the Edge is locked because the previous seller did not return their vehicle to stock.

 

it dosent even light up so it could be a fuse..but what could the unlock key be if the previous seller didnt return it to stock?

 

what year?? could be the cable! does it turn on at all, the way your asking it does turn on but not when plugged in. it wont turn on unless your igniton is turner to "on"

 

Andrew, I think if you're getting a black screen, you've simply got a blown fuse for the cigarette lighter. Please check/replace that and try again before you post any further questions.

Next, if the fuse is good (does the lighter work?), what year is your truck? This is important information, because you MAY have bought an incompatible model, and, if so, nothing will make it work on your truck.

Finally, if you bought a "locked" unit, you will have to get the unlock code from Edge. There is no other solution. It is not something any of us can give you! They will charge you a nominal fee for this, but it's better than a unit that doesn't work, right?

its a 2004..and I bought a new fuse and it lights up but its a blank screen..so should I call edge and get the unlock code and restore it?

 

Is it a new body style 2004 or one of the bastardized old school looking 2004's?

 

Install the lightning or fusion update software on your cumputer and when prompted connect the usb cable and see if it powers up.

 

its the new body style..and when i plug it into the computer it doesnt light up. and all i can do is restore or stock write

 

I think you should call Edge Tech Support.
