I don't have any tunes from PHP but I love my tunes from VMP. I ordered the Xcal3 figuring if I ever do some extreme mods on my truck like a supercharger than I'll be able to get it custom dyno tuned a little bit easier since PHP is the only one who custom tune the "Gryphon".

I have a Gryphon and have been very happy with PHP.

The only complaint, really, is the wait for custom tunes, but that's based entirely on the sheer number of orders we receive, and aside from a few odd circumstances (usually with military customers being deployed), customers are handled in the order in which we receive their orders.

Regarding Justin... he programs the X3 from SCT (as do we, FWIW), and I've only heard good things about his tuning. Last I heard, his wait is just over a week for custom tunes. If our wait is too long, I don't think you'd be disappointed with VMP!

since you use jerrys base software, are you wiping the memory of the edge tuners and reformatting them with the Pro Racer Package? are the algorithms for the gauges independent of the tuning software and files?

Where in heck did you come up with this? Bill Cohron used to work for Edge! He developed most of the software in the Evolution series. He's still a consultant for them and is helping them get a product in the field for 2009 f150s.

Of course the algorithms for gauges are independent of tuning algorithms - they do different things! But, an algorithm (which as you know is just a "method" or "detailed plan to accomplish something") can be realized in a program that is embedded in a file.

If you are referring to the "X3 from SCT", (and I guess that's what you are pointing me to) what does this have to do with the Edge programmer, Edge firmware or software?

You DO understand that the X3 is a different platform than the Evolution, don't you?

no ****, jack...ive got both the xcal2 and xcal3. read her statement, then reread it. if PHP is using the edge software to tune from, why was there a direct reference to using SCT's programming?

Because she was just telling you that Bill could tune the Xcal3, just as Justin does. Bill can tune the Edge and Xcal3 as well as diesels.

Please do a bit more research before you jump in with statements like this. PHP re brands Edge products as Gryphons with custom tuning, and, they now sell X3's also. And, in addition, they sell FU, FU2 chips, Phoenix chips and Minotaur tuning software.

Nowhere did she say she was using Edge software to tune X3s! You somehow incorrectly assumed this.

She, being a gracious lady, simply acknowledged that Justin Starkey has a good reputation in the tuning world. That was all she was saying.

actually, the statement appeared to affirm that SCT software is used to tune the edge module. Since the PRP is frequently used to burn blank chips and wipe other standard 4 bank chips and flash driven tuners, along with directly flashing PCMs through the USB cable interface. my apologies, i am used to have SCT employees and actual programmers, not dealers tuning my ford(s).

apparently it appeared that way only to you. That happens with the typed word. I would consider him more than just a dealer. If he's just a dealer, so is Justin and Troyer. They are all very competent tuners of these trucks.

Ok folks. I deleted the sniping messages. I think all of us involved get the picture now without the necessity of any more "education" from each other. Lets just move on.
