Difference between SCT Xcal2 vs. Xcal3

Hey Guys I am thinking about getting an sct tuner for my 08 F150 5.4 with the Banks Monster Exhaust and Banks CAI on it right now but was wanting to know what the difference is between the Xcal2 vs. Scal3?? Will either of them work fine or do the same thing? I am asking because I am able to buy a used xcal2 for a good price as well as a used xcal3 which will prolly run me a little more but if the xcal2 will work fine then I was just going to go ahead and get that. I think I am going to have Troyer do the tunes for me but does anyone know how much each tune from him costs? I am thinking of just doing two tunes from him so I thought I would ask.

I have the banks ottomind on my truck right now and I think I will benefit from my intake and exhaust more with the sct tuner with custom tunes than I am with the ottomind programmer right now. I am mainly wanting to get rid of the little hesitation I have at certain times or just get some more response when I step on the gas so that little bit of hesitation is gone and also looking to gain some better gas mileage as well. I think that with the custom tunes specific for my exhaust and intake will work better than the banks because I don't think I am getting the best out of my mods with the banks programmer.

Just wanted to see what you guys thought I should do or if I am making the right move as far as the tuner?

So what would the extra memory be for or what would I need it for?

IMO most of the time you won't save much money by buying a used SCT Xcal2 or Xcal3 and then paying to have custom tunes wrote for your truck. If the tunes really are $125 each (I'm not sure what they run) that'll add up quick and you would have to get a heck of a deal on a used programmer. The Xcal3 I got from VMP included 3 custom tunes and it was $399.99 plus shipping which was around $13.

Yeah but I think I am only going to get one custom tune that will satisfy all of my needs and think that it will end up being cheaper than buying a new one when I only want to do one custome tune and possibly maybe another one just for play. That is why I am thinking of getting a used one for a really good deal. Have you got your exhaust put on yet 08FX4 along with the intake and vmp tunes? I am curious how they will do together. Thanks

Cody

Not yet. My exhaust and intake is scheduled to be here Wednesday so all I'm waiting on is the Xcal3 from VMP. Hopefully it'll show up sometime next week so that I can get it all put on.

Last time I checked custom tunes from VMP were only $50 each... but that could have changed.

I have been using the same SCT X2 for 4 years now, with easily over 200 PCM flashes.

Works like a champ still.

I believe they are $60 now but the Xcal3 with three custom tunes would be $399.
