"No Start" Condition Edge Evo
"No Start" Condition Edge Evo
I've got a 2005 F150 with the edge. I've suspected the battery is going bad. I've gotten various instrument cluster lights lately at random. Today, I tried to reset the truck back to stock and it said some there was some communication error. I unplugged the thing and plugged it back up and it said "0" in the upper right hand corner. The truck will not start
If you thought the battery was going dead then why were you tryng to put it back to stock?
I would have just replaced the battery then did whatever programming I needed to.
Try this hook up a battery tender and let it charge for awhile. Then go and see what you have by plugging it in again.
These programmers use some good juice to reflash the pcm.
Hopefully you don't have corrupted files!

Yes. You should never try reprogramming with a weak battery. It requires a fully charged battery. Hopefully, the battery is just dead. Mine went completely dead with no warning and it was only 35 months old. Lights would not come on, nothing.

88 and Bluejay have given you excellent advice. If you think the battery is weak, either charge it (and make sure it's charged) or get a new one before you try anything else.
If you still can't get the truck to start, you probably DO have corrupted files. If that is the case, you'll need to call Edge for tech support.

I went to the auto parts place and they checked the battery and it came out fine. So that being said, there was still a communication issue and the battery seems to check out. Long story short, I got technical help and forced the truck back to stock and it started right up. Dont know why there was a problem though
When the switch is taking place between levels. If the electronic signals have any interference such as: low voltage, disconnect, turning off key or bad cable/connectors.
The files become "altered" or incomplete. Unlike your computer these programmers don't have backup files, only originals.

Glad you were able to get it fixed. As a precaution, I would keep an eye on the battery. If the truck gauges flash or act up in any way, I would change the battery out as quickly as possible.

I will add this from Bill Cohron at PHP:
"Unfortunately, interference from cell phones, high power stereo systems, alarm systems, and even high powered CBs from a relatively close truck can possibly cause the processors to freeze or can interfere with the communications bus which can also cause the display to freeze."
Now, this was in response to a question regarding screen freeze ups, but, if these things interfere with the communications bus, then I think it's a recipe for programming failure.
Moral of the story: Don't use your cell phone and make sure your stereo is off whenever you do any programming. I also would not try to do it in the near vicinity of microwave towers, radio or TV station transmitter towers or high tension electrical lines.

When I came back, I could not disarm the alarm - at all! I finally had to open the door with the key, Listen to the alarm shriek, pop the hood and then, with the tools I carry, disconnect the battery and then disconnect the alarm. It took a bit of time, but of course, it was the only way I was going to get the engine started.
That's the only time I ever had that problem and it had to be radio interference from the stations.

Well Im having the Same problem. I havent drove my truck for like 3 days,no money been laid off for like a month, then went to start it and the battery was dead well I jumped it off and my edge says that it is in stage 0 when in fact it is in stage 3, it doesnt show my stock profile and I'm sure the my HEX file has changed since that happened too. Is there anything that you had done to force it back to stock?? Any help would be great. Thanks,

BTW your HEX code will not change unless a dealer changes it.
I would contact edge if it cannot be corrected.
