Programmer/Tuner Help

I have a 2004 F-150 ext cab 2wd with the 5.4 and magnaflow exhaust 14" si/do (DWV mod is on the way) If I want to increase mpg's what is the best tuner/programmer for me. I have seen a lot about the Php Gryphon and the VMP one. I would like to get some ffedback and prices about which one would best suite me needs. I will order 2 tunes: an mpg and performance one. Thanks in advance... any input is great

I'd order a Xcal3 from VMP Tuning with a 93 octane performance, 93 gas mileage, and 87 performance.

Premium 93 octane costs a little more but the gas mileage is better so it basically cancels itself out except you make more power with 93 octane.

Well I think if you want a mountable tuner(you want to be able to see your parameters without looking down) then the Gryphon is definitely something you should look into.

The Xcal 3 is tuned by either Troyer or VMP Tuning, it lets your display parameters you choose also, but you cant mount it(I didnt really care to be able to see all the parameters constantly so I went with the VMP/Xcal 3 and Justin got the tunes to me VERY fast).

If you want a tune from VMP or Troyer, you can also go with the SCT Livewire(allows you to see parameters and is mountable), but its quite a bit of money for it, and my point of view with the LW is that its built/targeted towards the people that like to do the tuning themselves.

Thats my take on the whole programmer scheme.

Well in my opinion if you are just wanting the tuner for the gas mileage...then its not worth it. You more than likely want make your money back. But I definitely enjoy the power that the gryphon has added and the gauges.

Great guys, keep them coming, I am leaning towards the Gryphon. The power would be nice as well especailly where I may tow my family's travel trailer in the future. Keep the responses coming...
