I keep reading that the gotts/dwv mod does not cuase the lean condition. I does not move the location of the MAF which is done in commercial CIA's.... it could be wrong, but I don't think it is

Correct. You can run the gott's mod with the 5.4 on the canned tunes.

So that's why 5.4 3 valves lean out. I always thought it was just too much incoming air for it to compensate for.

Yeah, it's amazing how much most people don't know about issues like this. I would never have known unless I had joined this site. Just think of how many people are running around with their engine ticking like a time bomb

I'm going to add to this ... When you make the MAF "housing" bigger it counts as moving the MAF sensor away from the factory location.

Can you run the gotts mod with no tunes? I have an 04 F-150 5.4
