Gryphon/Edge gauge question

Question I have a Edge, Bill custom tuned a long time ago.
My question is and sure its just a edge thing but sometimes when I start the truck the display stays on 0's like its not registering. I can turn the truck off and back on and all the gauges start working again. However this is starting to happen more and more and gets annoying.

Does anyone else have this issue and if so know of a fix? I havnt tried reseting the LVL in a while maybe i need to do that or a firmware update. However if I do that may wipe my tunes out.

Go to powerhungryperformance.com and see their info on tunes built before 12/01/08. Do this before updating. I think your tunes might need to be rebuilt if you update to the new firmware. Contact corey or bill through an email and tell them what's going on and what to do.

^^^^What He Said^^^^!

I suspect a firmware upgrade MAY fix the problem, but you'll have to get your tunes rebuilt first (and it's a fairly minor thing for Bill to do).

(And, I've never seen what you describe, and I have the same MY truck - but I DO have the latest firmware updates to my programmer).

I have actually had that problem once and mine is up to date. But after I shut the truck off and turned it back on haven't seen it since.

Happens to me about every other month (1 in 200 startups?). Edge has replaced my unit, the power cable(this past spring 09), it still does it. I have no custom tunes.

It comes back the first time, everytime I shut off and restart.

I'm totally without any brilliant ideas here. I've never had this problem, so I have no clue about correcting it. :o

I'm about to blow your minds so be prepared....

No replacement of your edge and restarting of the truck necessary, and it takes about 2 seconds.

Hit menu to bring up the menu screen, then hit menu again to exit it.

99% of the time this refreshes the monitor and all of your stats will start to register. I'm not an ECU programmer but I'd venture to guess it's some type of hardware sync issue. Of course this won't help if there's an actually firmware problem but for this occasional bug it works like a charm. Hope this helps

It could be an early warning sign that the battery is a little weak also. Sure your truck will start but the Edge may not be getting enough voltage at startup. I agree with pushing the menu button twice. Works on mine everytime.

408F150 im going to try this next time thanks! Before I would pull over and turn the truck off and back on which after doing this so many times it gets aggervating.

Ftruck05 Ive replaced the battery and it did it before and after.

Not sure why but starting to bug me now, it seems to do it a little more now. Maybe 1 out of every 50 times just guessing and could even do it twice in one week. Its just always had me puzzled.

Thanks guys@!

Very good, both of you! I'll add the "Menu" trick to my list of "fixes". Bill had said that you sometimes get zeros after adjusting brightness, and the fix was to unplug and plug in the unit or do a key off/on, but this is much easier.

408F150 just wanted to say thanks. My gauges acted up this weekend and tried that trick and fixed it! That should hold me off for a while till I e-mail Bill.
