Edge settings w/ bigger tires? Custom tunes Q's?

I just recently got bigger tires. I have an edge and adjusted the tire size, but with the bigger heavier tires I started to run level 3 instead of the level 2 I have driving on for 6 months. Some people mention that they bump the timing 1.0 per octane. I always thought the owners manual said .5 for each increase in octane. I am running 1.25 on level 3 with 93 octane. What would everyone recommend? I am looking to get the best fuel economy along with a little more performance with the bigger tires. I also have an AEM intake that I am hesitant to put on because I don't want to run lean.

I might get a custom PHP tune so I can put the intake on and maybe a muffler. How much is 3 custom tunes if you already have an edge unit?

Also I tow a 5,000 lbs. boat every weekend in the summer months. On the edge would you recommend level 2 with a 2.0 timing increase and 93 octane for the best performance / mpg's?

In the past I had 32" tires with the edge on level 2 increase of timing .75 and 89 octane. I averaged 14.5-15.5. Not sure what I got towing. Also shift firmness turned up 2-3.

Now I have 34's. What should my settings be on the edge? How much are the tunes and how long does it take?

Adding 0.5 degrees per octane number is the correct amount. 1.25 may be a bit overadvanced.

I would not use the intake without custom tunes, especially on Level 3. That tune is "leaner" than the Level 2 tune.

It costs $35, I think, to upgrade an Edge to a Gryphon. Once upgraded, tunes are $50 each. You should check PHP's website though, in case these prices have changed. It's been taking about 2-3 weeks for an Edge-Gryphon conversion. The unit is kept until the new tunes are loaded into it, then it's shipped back to you.

Pulling a 5000# boat, you definitely want to be using the Level 2 tow tune. If you use 93 octane gas here though, you could possibly increase your timing by 3 degrees. However, I think 2 degrees is a good starting point.

About the only thing to change for the bigger tires is the tire size. Use the table in the Edge manual and subtract about 3% for "squish".

Hope this is helpful!
