Question Dashdaq - anyone have one ??

- Wondering if anyone has or had a DASHDAQ System ??

- I've been looking around for a OBD2 Scan Tool and stumbled across this product.

- Looks pretty good (if price isn't an issue) and seems to monitor/log tons of parameters on top of being an OBD2 Scan Tool.

- Any input or reviews would be helpful.

- Only found one mention of it when doing a search thru the Forum.

- Thanks in advance...

- WOW !!! 3 full weeks and not a single response.

- Has to be some sort of record !!

- One thing I can say about the DashDAQ system is the Sales team has been really helpful.

- I've contacted a rep at Drew Technologies a few times, and he has answered every question I've asked him, so that's definetly a plus.

- Company is based out of Ann Arbor Michigan, which is not to far from me.

- Sales rep has offered to have me out to the location, and he'll demonstrate the product.

- Can't pass that up, and will be meeting with him tomorrow afternoon.

- I'll post pictures, I'll probably walk out of there with one, as all the researching I've done on it has show it to be a really nice product.

Is it a Hypertech??? If the salesman was able to answer all your questions and your satisfied then go with that one.

- Here is a link to the site: http://www.dashdaq.com.

- Did meet with one of the Reps from Drew Technologies on Friday (05-15-09) and he was extremely helpful.

- Brought out a sample unit, we hooked it up to my Truck, and he showed me how it worked, and how to scan the PCM for available Parameter ID's (PIDs).

- Fortunately for me I have an automotive technician background, so getting everything set-up to what I wanted to display and log was pretty simple.

- Its all touch-screen, so simply press on the gauge you want to configure, and assign what you want to monitor, and even adjust the values you want on the gauge.

- Ended up purchasing one and had it set-up wit the additional Ford Specific PID's.

- So far, extremely happy with what this can do.

- I bought the base unit (no GPS Capability).

- Wasn't looking for a unit that could do that, and saved about $150 bucks.

- I'll be posting images of the unit, the main gauge screens, and an example .csv file you can create with the data logging capabilities shortly under my profile.

- If anyone has any questions or curious about anything, let me know I can probably answer as I asked them probably every question in regards to the function !!

- I also made some simple Excel graphs to capture a short trip I made over the weekend and I'll post images of those as well.

- When they say every gauge is configurable, they mean EVERY gauge.

- You'll see from the pictures, I haven't even configured some of the screens yet.

- As far as sensors you can monitor, basically if the vehicle your using it on has a signal of some-sort going to the PCM, you can read that value.

- Additionally, you can go to the logging screen and define up to 16 PID's to constantly log as soon as you hit the "Start Log" button available on the Gauge Screens.

- Check it out, if anyone is seriously looking at getting an OBD II scanner, consider this, as not only will it retrieve and clear DTC's its a Data Logger to boot.

What's with the OPs excessive use of the '-' button?

A bit too pricey for my taste. I'll stick with my simple ScanGaugeII.

Seems to be a very upscale Scangauge with some extra bells and whistles like the mp3 player and GPS. Nice looking design. No tuning capability.

If I didn't want programming, like via my Gryphon, I'd seriously think about one of these babies. The very cool thing is that these go beyond generic OBD PID's and have Ford Enhanced PID's as well:

Outside of a laptop running some expensive software, I don't know of anything else out there that provides this level of functionality in a dashboard-sized package.

SCT products allow pass thru datalogging with a lap top and the software is free.

Right. SCT and a bunch of others. My point was that the DashDAQ isn't a laptop but provides much of the PID's and logging of a laptop.

- Agreed.. it was a little pricey.. but so far really happy with it.

- Most days.. I'll bring it.. plug it in.. and drive to work and just hit the "Start Log" button.

- Then.. get home.. and save the .csv file.

- Never know.. if things start going wrong with Driveabilty, I'll always have a good reference to check back on.

- Also.. have had friends thinking about buying used cars, so we have hooked up the thing, checked for codes, and some basic parameters to be sure the vehicles running right.

- Stealerships will probably charge $100+ to do that.

- As long as you've got a list of "Know Values" from a shop-manual or whatever its good piece of mind.

- Some of the "Calculated Parameters" seem to be off by at least 20%.

- I've got "Calculated Fuel Mileage" as one, and usually shows 24+MPG.

- First time I saw that, I got out of my 4X4 FX4 w/ 4-Doors and checked under the hood to make sure someone didn't secret switch my truck into a hybrid or something..

- So.. that's my only gripe so far.

- Other then that.. good product.. glad I got it.
