Edge Evo Level 2 or 3?

Hello everyone! I just put my edge in the other day and have some questions. First of all My truck is a 2000 5.4L Scab lifted with 305/65/17 tires. I was wondering what level gives better gas mileage? I heard that level 3 with 91 octane makes up for the difference? Also I have 91 in the tank right now and was wondering if I should mess with the timing if I'm on level 2. AND I'm pretty sure my tires are 33" so i adjusted the setting to 2632mm as suggested in the manual and my spedo read 80 on the freeway at 1500 rpm(most likely was doing 60) HElp me please haha

Did you check the default gear setting to see if it is what you really have? I ran level 2 only when towing, level 3 is that much better. If you do run level 2 on 91, you need to bump the timing +2.0

I believe what Bluejay was saying, was that maybe in the custom options that your gear ratio is entered wrong. For example, it may have 3:55 saved and you real have 3:73. But also on your tire size, did you take into affect of the squish factor? or is that just the unloaded circumference.

If your gears are stock, you need to know the ratio. There is a code on the door. It will be something such as 19 or B9. Can be 2 numbers or a letter and a number. From that, you can look at a list and get your gear ratio and then when you go to custom settings, when you chose the gear setting, see if it matches what your truck has. I bet it doesn't, so you would need to change it. Also, as stated, if you are using the number out of the book, deduct 5% for sqhish of the tires.

Not really. I got 11% better mpg on level 3 so it paid for the difference in cost. I ran level 3 all the time until I got the custom tunes. Just never tow on level 3, always level 2.

An H9 axel code is a 3.55 Limited Slip. So, if the setting is anything other than 3.55, you need to change it.

ok so i first tinkered with the settings in my driveway about 20 mins ago and bumping the timing up 2.00 was not good. It had a rough idle and smelled very rich. Any idea whats up with that? I did cut around the drop in k&n a few weeks ago so that it is completely exposed. Also i changed the settings to 3.55 it was on 3.31 BUT i also changed the tire size to 2632 and just got off the freeway and once again it feels like its not right. It's reading 80mph at 2000rpm. UGHHHH

i know how you feel about adjusting the tire size. i have 295/75 16 on my truck. the manual says to put it at 2666 for tire size. so i did and it was saying i was going faster then i was. i know because i was using my gps. so had to drop it to 2458 and that got it really close. i still have to drop it down about 2% more... hope this helps.

Well I did the math on the tire size that you stated in the first post "305/65/17 and it looks like the number you are getting is the unloaded circumference. I actually got 2603 (could be wrong though) but then I subtracted 5% squish from that number and got 2472. Usually between 3% and 5% is what works most of the time so that number might be a little low. So if I was you I would put that number or a little bit higher number in and try it. and it should get close.

Alright thanks guys Ill try those numbers out. Im having another problem now haha. I tried to mess with my wot shift points and rev limiter. I adjusted everything to Bluejays settings and the engine idles really rough jumping from 300 rpm to 1000 then eventually will die. any idears? I ended up just adjusting the gear ratio and tire size on level 3 and im scared to touch anything else. I didn't even touch the timing, so I can't figure out the problem since any of the settings i changed shouldnt have any effect at idle.

I don't see what any of that would do to the idle, but that is an adjustment that I forgot to mention. If your idle is not between 700 and 800, you need to adjust it. I kept mine on about 750 to 800.

Hey, so it is not just mine that does that. I have a Gryphon but it is the same unit rebadged. Mine runs like crap if I try to adjust the same two things. It idles very ruff and stinks of fuel just like yours. I have custom tunes on the way for mine so I stopped playing with those two settings. I just changed the tire size, gears, and shift firmness and I don't have the problem. I hope my custom tunes solve this problem but we will see. I would be interested to hear what you find out.

Yes it's very annoying. Well I guess I'll mess around with stuff tonight and call tech if the problems persist. So I'll let you know about that. I'm curious to know how your custom tunes work out so keep me posted.
