Xcal3 or SF3?

Which one should I get? The Xcal3 or SF3? If I get the Xcal3, who should I get the custom tunes from? I hear good things about Bama, VMP, and TP but I want some rear world feedback from you guys. Thanks in advance !! This seems like the best F150 site out there that I've found !!

I ordered the X3 and received the SF3. If it states 3015 on the back, it is an SF3. that means you get the 3 canned tunes while waiting for your custom tunes. I ordered mine from Troyer. They are very nice, return calls, emails, all very promptly. i even had a follow up call to make sure all was ok after installing the canned tune!

I'm still waiting on replies to my emails from all three vendors. I guess they are busy.

I dealth with VMP for a few different programmers and you don't get your programmer until the custom tunes are already tune. Justing owns VMP and is a really good guy but he primarily does Mustangs. Obviously it's not too big a difference to do F150's as well but with all the insane work Mike@Troyer is going to be doing to my truck next month I would get one from him. Only guy I know that specializes in F150's! This was his primary vehcile and most other companies like VMP just branched off into the F150 world were as Mike pretty much started in it. I'm almost positive there are a TON of threads on this issue as well. Do a few searches and see what you come up with.

Thats how I came to choose my X3 (SF3). I researched for over 2 months, did comparisons, weighed everyones viewpoints and opinions, spoke to each vendor, and decided on Troyer based on the experience and results of members postings on 3 F150 sites. that was a lot of work. But when making a critical purchase and the price paid ( I bought it new from Troyer) it is understandable for the research to be thorough.

I talked to Justin today and I'm glad I got a hold of someone because he was able to help me out a lot. I asked him if he just specialized in Mustangs and he said that he specializes in tuning for late model Ford's, mostly Mustangs and F150s. I asked him and he said he'll send the tuner out if you want and than email it so that's cool too. I went ahead and placed an order with him because he was really helpful and I hear he does really good tunes. So we'll see. I had sent everyone an email like a week ago and Troyer Performance and Bama Chips still haven't responded.

I just wanted to give an update about my experience with Justin & VMP Tuning. I ordered on the 23rd and got it in a little more than two weeks. I've been driving around with it for a few days and can't begin to explain how happy I am !! I'm very impressed with Justin's work. Anyone on the fence about getting a tuner or even who to chose doesn't need to look any further. The answer is right here. Justin will answer your questions and right a top notch tune. My truck is a monster now compared to before !!
