For those on the fence about buying a tuner...

This is for anyone with a 5.4L3V that is on the fence about buying a tuner. I've had an Edge on my 06 FX4 since almost right after I bought the truck in Nov of last year. Today at lunch I put it back to stock just for fun. I run the Edge on program 2 exclusively. Wow. It's amazing how big of a dog these trucks are. Shifting points especially. So if you're on the fence about buying a tuner, ANY TUNER, do it. You will not be disappointed.

I may try it next time I pull my enclosed trailer. I have a feeling I'll be pulling over about 2 miles down that road and reprogramming though.

I will next winter. It's race season right now so all my funds are spoken for.

I ask myself everytime I take him to race why I ever let him ride his first motorcycle. :o

Nice forks. I have 2 buddies that did that when their boys were on 65s. Makes those little KXs all new bikes. My boy ran a KTM 65 when he was on 65s. That was before they put the price out of reach for us poor folk!

Gryphon on a custom Level 2 tow tune for towing, a custom Level 1 Performance/Economy tune otherwise. Wouldn't want to drive my truck without them!

Speaking of which Jack, or anyone that knows:
My Edge is hooked to my truck on Level 2, if I unplug it to send it to PHP, will my truck revert to the stock tune? Or, stay on my Edges level 2 tune?

Unpluging does not change the tune in the PCM. But, to be safe, you should always return your truck to stock before upgrading or modifying your tuner. Return it to stock before sending the tuner off.

Yes, I think those with the 4.6 have experienced an increase of approximately 20 hp increase.

I want to "elaborate" on Bluejay's answer to you. If you send your Edge to PHP to be converted to a Gryphon, it will have a firmware and calibration update that will return it to stock! When you get it back, it will not recognize your truck's Level 2 calibration.

You MUST return your truck to Level 0 (stock) before sending it to PHP to be upgraded to a Gryphon. (Bill can fix the problem if you don't, but it's an extra. time consuming step - don't make him do it).

Once you get the Gryphon, you'll be able to program the new, improved Level 2 tow tune and you'll be happy!

But, what Bluejay said was absolutely correct! Once you program your PCM, you can unplug your Edge/Gryphon and bury the thing in your backyard. The tune is "locked" into the PCM and stays there until someone (like a dealer) comes along and reprograms it. You DO NOT need the Gryphon/Edge IN your truck to make the tune work!

Or, until you plug the Gryphon/Edge back in and return it to stock or load in one of the other programs. Just making sure there is no misunderstanding.
