which programmer will add the most power
?
don't let the most power be the most important thing in deciding a tuner-make sure that topic is changed to:SAFEST, most powerfullest tuner-imho-i highly recommend tuning by mike troyer
I ordred a troyer for my 04 heritage,i had a edge in my 06 but the screen would go blank alot.Troyer seems the way to go even tho i havent used it yet.BUT THEY ALWAYS SEEM TO PICK UP THE PHONE AND AWNSER QUESTIONS.Should have it in like 2 weeks
?
Troyer, VMP, and PHP are all quality tuning. None are the "best"... All are badass and just depends on what you really want. PHP is a different style tuner then the rest, while VMP and Troyer are both SCT.
Agreed. All 3 are very good. I prefer the Gryphon because of the gauges it provides. If the gauges are not important, then I would probably go with Troyer.

I did not want something sitting on my dash when I am out fishing for 10 hours. As a guide, I goto many marinas in different areas and did not want a visible programmer. Very happy with the X3 and will see if there is a difference when I get the custom tunes. But they have been great at helping at both Troyer and at Sct.
ok so i have an xcal2 and love it. i'll add a question to this thread and ask what is the average power gain from a custom tuner. i was planning on going with vmp but overall what are the differences with gains. is it a 5-10 hp gain or is it a 10-15 hp gain? what do ya'll see maybe in the seat of the pants gain? (93 tune)

It is all a matter of preference on which tuning device you go with. I (like SML175) did not want something on my dash that advertises that I have something in the truck of value so I went with SCT. As for tuners any of the three main tuners that frequent this site (VMP-PHP-Troyer) seem to have good reviews by the forum population and I can speak for the tunes I have from VMP and tell you that I am very satisfied. It would be best if you contact all three and see which company fits your needs best.
I want to chime in for the Superchips Cortex.. I believe it may not be the moste agressive tuner out there and I know its not the moste popular.
But.... The reason I use it is I know that I cant set any parameters outside of what is safe.. and it come with a two year powertrain waranty.. that was important to me because I've only had my truck 5 month and don't want to exceed the limits.. But running aon the 93 octain performance tune is night and day.. My last 1/4mile time as clocked by the cortex was 16.36 seconds... I'm happy with that.. I havent had it long enuff to get a decent mpg rating yet but I will let you know

The differences are basically that the Gryphon has the display but is a lot more expensive, and VMP and Troyer are about the same except that VMP takes a couple weeks to get your tunes, and with Troyer it can take up to 3 months.
