Edge Problem

My Edge is acting funny lately. It seems that the cable doesn't keep a good connection. Sometimes I get in the truck and it doesn't come on, but with a push of the cable one way or the other it will come right on. Sometimes it just keeps a blank green screen, and then is ok the next time I get in the truck. I don't have the time to pull the programmer out of the pod every time it does it, and its gotten to where it is about once a day!

Anybody had this problem? It seems as if it can be immediately rectified by wiggling the cable and pushing the programmer back into the pod, but after a few cranks it will just mess up again, to which I am attributing the cause to shutting the door when I get out of the truck and shaking the connection.

I looked at it there isn't any room to put something in to keep it pried one way or the other, and I def don't want to glue it to it or anything like that. Anybody got any ideas?

Just thought about trying to clean the OBD port and the cable end that plugs into the programmer, perhaps they are too dirty to keep a good connection?

When I first got mine I kind of had a problem like this, but I wasnt pushing the cable all the way into the programmer to it locked ( got in hurry), so everytime I shut the door it would blink off. But I guess one of the connections could be dirty also?

You might spray it with the elecrical cleaner that is used on the MAF, I think it is CRC. Another possibility is your battery. The Edge monitor is the first thing to act up when the battery is getting weak.

And, you're in a warm climate, so the temperature is not a factor either.

The retaining clip that holds the cable into the back of my Gryphon has broken off, so it's not really "secured", but I've never seen the problem you are describing.

Bluejay's thought about the battery and contact cleaner may be something to follow up on.

Sorry we're not more help!
