in my 2006 supercrew with 6" lift and 20" wheels i got an edge programmer, and was amazed at the difference in power and acceleration, you wont go wrong with an edge chip, also tried hypertech, and wouldnt recommend it to anyone.edge all the way....

also edge has tow mode, economy, and performance mode, takes a couple seconds to switch modes, looks really good in the truck too.

You need to do some reading of the threads in the Tuner forum. pay attention to Edge, Gryphon and Xcal3. Also pay attention to custom tuning by Power Hungry Performance and Troyer Performance. A custom tuned Gryphon or Xcal3 are you best options for power and overall performance.

Unless you buy a used Edge it would be cheaper to buy the Gryphon to start with. Same hardware, same canned tunes, but the Gryphon comes with the option for custom tunes.

Got a XCAL2 from a forum member here for $200 shipped and had Justin at VMP Tuning do my custom tunes ( 87 perf,87 tow and 93 perf). No complaints about my tunes or his service and ALOT quicker then some of the others

Sct programmers make the most power period, and has the most effective adjustment options. The edge cant even compare, and not to knock the Gryphon.....but Bill is the only tuner that cant hack into the edge while there are several great tuners out there that can right sct tunes that the edge software cant touch. All the good custom tuning shops use sct for a reason Plus on a side note, there are alot of people that say they want a edge so they can moniter this and that, but I have yet to see a edge with accurate gauges/readings.

That is hilarious! You really need to know what you are talking about before spouting off. Bill wrote the canned tunes for Edge. I am one of the few that have his custom tunes on an Edge, aquired after he openned his own shop. He can not tune an Edge now because he worked out an agreement with them to no longer put custom tunes on an Edge so they would not risk losing their CARB certificate. As part of the agreement, Edge sells him hardware which he relabels as the Gryphon. He is even tuning Xcal3s now as well as all the diesel tunes.

The gryphon is still the same thing right, bill sells it with edges canned tunes then sends you three of his custom tunes right? Whether he has his own shop of not, or doesnt work for edge any more set aside his custom tunes its the same thing(it's the same frigin software), Bill was smart to become a sct dealer, I think it will make his business even greater. Plus didn't you send your edge to him to put custom tunes in it? Im not saying Bill isn't a great tuner but the edge canned tunes suck and everyone on here that knows absolutley nothing about tuning thinks they are great. I think unless you can get a gryphon, the edge is a worthless piece of junk. I at first had a edge and I didn't notice a single thing out of it other than it made my truck shift like complete crap. Switched to a xcal 3 and there was no comparison, and you will find hundreds of great sct tuners out there as oppose to one tuner that can use edge software or gryphon if you will. There is no argument here

No, I did not send my Edge to Bill. He emailed me custom tunes which I loaded onto my Edge. He did that with a handful of customers before he worked out an agreement with Edge, not to do it. That is when the Gryphon came into existance. No, a canned tune does not stand up to a custom tune. It is not intended to do so, however, I daresay that The Edge tunes are as good or better than any other canned tunes. Have you run them? I did for 31,000 miles. Bill's custom tunes are better than the canned tunes in power and especially in the downshifting characteristics and I have run them for 22,000 miles.

I don't want hundreds of tuners messing with my truck. I want someone that knows these trucks inside and out. For my money, that would be PHP, Troyer or VMP.

Yea, I have both troyers tunes and vmp's tunes, I ran the edge for a week and my truck shifted like crap and had a nasty shutter, the edge had a thirty day trial period so it went back to them with a refund in my pocket. I dont think you will find anyone on here like troyer that tunes that will have more knowledge about f150/tuning. Almost every ford out there making power or has more than a cold air intake run sct products. I have a xcal on my 05 stang, my 07 f150 and my ford fusion(baby mobile) My 05 at one point was making 600 rwhp and never had a problem getting it dialed in with sct software
