Recommendations for a 4.6

I have the 4.6 in my truck and a superchip programmer in there now set to performance, but can't tell alot of difference other than worse gas mileage. I see people recommending the Xcal and others. I was trying to see if anyone had went with a superchip and then switched to something else and saw any big difference.

yea i'm going to take the program out of there and see what else is available. i dont plan to add any more to the engine, I just want a program that will give me a bit more power that what the current configuration is giving me.

I have a superchip. 2007 4.6. On the scangauge i picked up 10-15 hp in perf. mode. The mileagexs program picked up 2-3 hp and almost 1 mpg. You might check the octane of your gas, because if it is below 91 it will not help you, you need to put it 87 perf. and use 86-88 octane, this got me 8-12 hp.

good to hear you got a gain on it. my prob also maybe i went up to a 285 tire as well. they are quite a bit heavier than the stock rts's i was running. I'll see what difference there is when i switch up to a different gas as well

If you still dont notice anything and you just recently bought the superchip new, I am pretty sure that you can get a refund within 30 days, then you could get a custom tune.

I have always had a Mike Troyer custom tune in my trucks. The first one (1997 F-150 4x4) was a single chip. The second one ( current truck) was a single chip with a custom 94 octane performance tune. The third one was a 4 bank chip with four tunes. 87 tow, 91 performance, 91tow and 94 performance. The latest is a custom tune for the blower using an Xcal2. 91 tow, 91 performance and 94 performance. If you are expecting to be pushed back in the seat with an off the shelf tune in a stock truck you will be disappointed. You have gained maybe 20 HP? Pull the tune and drive around in the stock configuration and you will appreciate the difference. What tune did you have installed before you went to 91 performance? If you went from any of the programmed tunes to 91 performance you will not see that much of a gain.

The PHP Gryphon is awesome. Its a custom tuned Edge, offers alot more interesting things than most others offer.

Does it let me plug in my netbook into the device and datalog PID/DMR? No.

The only thing more it offers is a visible mounted display. I can use my X2, load PIDs into it and scroll between information if i really had too. But what is the need if my tuning is right? All fail-safe strategies are being used, so me seeing what is happening is irrelevant because the computer is taking care of it.
