gryphon

Does anyone have a Gryphon for the 97-03 5.4? I am interested in getting a programmer and I've heard these are good. Any opinions are appreciated.

Several people have them. They give you increased horsepower and better gas mileage. Bill Cohron at www.PHPTune.com says the firmware is undergoing some changes that should increase that model's capabilities too, but no release date has been set.

Do some reading in the Chip and Tuner section. You should find lots of testamonials.

I have a a 97 scab w/5.4 and just went over 100k this last weekend. I've had the Gryphon since sept 08 ordered with 87oct performance, 87oct tow and 91oct performance. Used the 87 oct tow prior to gas getting cheeper while towing the boat and 91oct performance since. It has paid for itself just in pure grinns so to speak. Not to mention the customer service that both Bill and Corey provide is phenominal. It says alot when the owner of the company will return you phone call and answer questions while on vacation in Orlando.

Yes, same hardware. The Edge is not allowed to be custom tuned.

We actually brought a customer's newly purchased Gryphon with us to FL because we didn't want to leave it on the porch for UPS to pick up. Billy and I actually drove around Disney World on Monday morning until we spotted a UPS truck. We even held up traffic while I jumped out of the Expy, opened the back hatch to retrieve the box, and run to the UPS truck to give it to the driver. It was hysterical, and Cory got his Gryphon delivered that week.

The biggest difference is the gauges that Gryphon offers so you can monitor about 25 different things, 4 at a time. If you have no interest in the gauges, then the Xcal3 is probably for you. Personally, I do not want to be without my gauges!

A lot of guys painted it, if black didn't work. Actually, it may be grey now, not sure.
