Need Gryphon PHP for '08 Expy

I was looking into buying the S&B CAI for my Expy, but decided against it after reading all the experts here, on tuning. Unfortunately, PHP does not list a system for my Expy. According to their forum, they still need to research it and this could be a long wait, i'm assuming.
According to all I've read, A really good set up would be the PHP Gryphon, S&B CAI, with custom tune.....does "canned" mean you just get a basic reprogramming? and custom comes later, to include for towing, performance and mpg? Sorry, I'm not really versed on all this tuning requirements.
My '08 Expy "Limited" is lowered, 22" wheels, Borla 70 series exhaust (real nice sound for an SUV). So I figure with CAI and the proper tunes, it should be a nice all around package....especially after reading what you folks think....
Any ideas on how long before PNP has something for this truck? Or, is there something else that will work? Sounds like waiting would be worth it.
Appreciatte any thoughts...Andy

The canned tunes are kind of "one size fits all". They are written for stock vehicles, so will not adjust and take advantage of a CAI. You need a cutom tune for that. The unit comes with 3 canned tunes, one is just a shift tune for 87, Level 2 is an 87 towing tune that can be used all the time even when not towing, and Level 3 is a 91 performance tune.

Being a "fits all", they leave a lot on the table that a custom tune provides, but they are good. They will give you 25 or so HP for a 5.4 engine. The custom tunes give you 8 to 10 more plus have much better downshifting patterns.

Bill has a Gryphon in his own Expedition. I would suggest you call them at PHP and discuss your needs. They are great people to work with and absolutely no pressure to buy.

Bluejay said it all, haynexp, I can't add anything except that I must be getting slow in my old age!

No, wait, I've just thought of something! You need to talk to Bill or Corey at PHP to find out what the real possibilities are!

Not over the hill quite yet, Jim, just a little slow on the uptake!

Thanks for the help, and also all your other post on this subject. It's a big help for us trying to learn all this.
I've restomoded four cars over the years from the 60's and 70's, as a hobby not a pro. I'm ok with basic big motors and big carbs at WOT....LOL! But this stuff is like learning all over.
I will definetly calling PHP next week.
Thanks again....

I just tuned my 08 EXPY with the CORTEX from Troyer.

I am satisfied so far.

I chose to stay with TP.
